The 1995 Holiday Bowl was a college football bowl game played December 29, 1995, in San Diego, California. It was part of the 1995 NCAA Division I-A football season. It featured the Kansas State Wildcats, and the Colorado State Rams. Game summary Kansas State scored first following a 3-yard touchdown run by running back Eric Hickson, putting the Wildcats up 7–0. Colorado State answered with a 2-yard touchdown run by Jamie Blake tying the game at 7. Jack Murphy Stadium
San Diego Stadium was a multi-purpose stadium on the west coast of the United States, in San Diego, California. The stadium opened in 1967 as San Diego Stadium and was known as Jack Murphy Stadium from 1981 to 1997. From 1997 to 2017, the stadium's naming rights were owned by San Diego-based telecommunications equipment company Qualcomm, and the stadium was known as Qualcomm Stadium or simply The Q. The naming rights expired on June 14, 2017, and were purchased by San Diego County Credit Union, renaming the facility as SDCCU Stadium on September 19, 2017; those naming rights expired in December 2020. 1995 NCAA Division I-A Football Season
The 1995 NCAA Division I-A football season was the first year of the Bowl Alliance. Tom Osborne led Nebraska to its second straight national title with a victory over Florida in the Fiesta Bowl. This matchup was only possible because of the new Bowl Alliance. Under the old system, Nebraska would have been tied to the Orange Bowl and Florida to the Sugar Bowl. The Bowl Alliance created a national championship game which would rotate between the Orange, Sugar, and Fiesta Bowls free of conference tie-ins and featuring the No. 1 and No. 2 teams as chosen by the Bowl Alliance Poll. The Pac-10 and Big Ten chose not to participate, keeping their tie-ins with the Rose Bowl. Kansas State Wildcats Football Bowl Games
Kansas () is a state in the Midwestern United States. Its capital is Topeka, and its largest city is Wichita. Holiday Bowl
The Holiday Bowl is a post-season NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision college football bowl game that has been played in San Diego since 1978. San Diego County Credit Union has been the game's title sponsor since 2017, and the bowl has been officially known as the San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl. Past editions of the bowl were played at San Diego Stadium. Future editions are planned to be played at Petco Park in San Diego, under a five-year arrangement reached in 2021. Petco Park, the baseball park of the San Diego Padres, will be reconfigured to accommodate a football field. San Diego Stadium was demolished beginning in the autumn of 2020. The 1995–96 NCAA football bowl games concluded the 1995 NCAA Division I-A football season. In the first year of the Bowl Alliance era, the Alliance achieved its goal of matching the two top-ranked teams in the country in the Fiesta Bowl, designated as the Bowl Alliance national championship game for the 1995 season. Kevin Eugene Lockett (born September 8, 1974) is a former American football wide receiver and punt returner in the National Football League for the Kansas City Chiefs, Washington Redskins, Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets. He played college football at Kansas State University where he was a football and Academic All-American. He went to high school at Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa. Jamie Blake (born c. 1975) is a singer/songwriter. Blake grew up in Chicago before moving to Washington DC in 1993, where she attended The American University. She left for New York in 1994 to study at New York University. She was signed by A&M Records in 1996. Her debut album, self-titled ''Jamie Blake'', was released in August 1997. The 1995 Kansas State Wildcats football team represented Kansas State University in the 1995 NCAA Division I-A football season. The team's head football coach was Bill Snyder. The Wildcats played their home games in KSU Stadium. 1995 saw the Wildcats finish with a record of 10–2, and a 5–2 record in Big 8 Conference play. 1995 was the last year of the Big Eight.
