Czech First League
The Czech First League, known as the Fortuna liga for sponsorship reasons, is a Czech professional league for football clubs. At the top of the Czech football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. Seasons typically run from August to May, most games are played on Saturdays and Sundays with few games played on Fridays. All Fortuna liga clubs qualify for the Czech Cup. The history of the Czech football league began with its reorganization for the 1993–94 season following the dissolution of Czechoslovakia and therefore the league became the successor of the Czechoslovak League. Thirty-five clubs have competed in the Fortuna liga since its founding. Sparta Prague has won the title 12 times, the most among Czech clubs. Other clubs that were crowned as champions are Slavia Prague, Slovan Liberec, Baník Ostrava and Viktoria Plzeň, who are the reigning champions. Prague Derby
The Prague derby ( cs, Pražské derby) or Derby of the Prague S ( cs, Derby pražských S) is a football match between local Prague rivals SK Slavia Prague and AC Sparta Prague. The two clubs are considered to be the most successful in the Czech football, having won league and cup titles multiple times. The two were both founded in the late 19th century, Slavia one year before their rivals in 1892, though Slavia did not play football until four years later. The first match between the teams was played on 29 March 1896, with the game finishing 0–0. The two clubs are the most successful and famous in the country and their dominance has led the derby to be referred in a similar way as the Scottish Old Firm. As of 5 December 2021 the fixture has been played 303 times. Sparta have won 136 of those matches, 72 ended as a draw and Slavia have won 95. FK Hvězda Cheb
FK Hvězda Cheb is a Czech football club, playing in the town of Cheb. The club was founded in 1951 and refounded in 2001 after a bankruptcy in 1996. The club played for 13 consecutive seasons in the Czechoslovak First League between 1979 and 1992, and played three seasons in the Czech First League, finishing fourth in the 1993–94 season. The club played in the third-tier Bohemian Football League between 2006 and 2008. It currently plays in the Czech Fourth Division. The club also had appearances in Europe playing the Mitropa Cup in 1980 and in Intertoto Cup 1981, in which it won its group. The club announced a change in its name from Union Cheb to Hvězda Cheb in 2011. SK Sigma Olomouc
SK Sigma Olomouc is a Czech football club from the city of Olomouc. The club currently plays in the Czech First League, the first tier of Czech football. The club played in the first tier league for 30 years between 1984 and 2014, winning the Czech Cup and Czech Supercup in 2012. Being relegated to Czech National Football League in 2014, the club won the league the subsequent season and got a promotion back to First League in 2015, but failed to stay in the top division and were relegated after only one season. FK Drnovice
1. FK Drnovice was a Czech football club based in the Moravian village of Drnovice near Vyškov, founded in 1932. The club played in the top flight of Czech football, the Czech First League, between 1993 and 2002, and again in the 2004/05 season. Because of financial trouble, the club ceased to exist in 2006. Drnovice now hosts a small club FKD currently playing regional division. SK Dynamo České Budějovice is a association football, football club from České Budějovice, Czech Republic. They currently play in the Czech First League, the first tier of football in the Czech Republic. History The club was founded in 1899 as Sportovní kroužek České Budějovice and in 1905 as Sportovní klub České Budějovice. Since 1993, the club has played in the top-level Czech First League almost exclusively. FK Jablonec
FK Jablonec () is a Czech professional football club based in Jablonec nad Nisou. The club has played in the top league of Czech football, Czech First League, since 1994. History Jablonec played its first season of top league football in the 1974–75 Czechoslovak First League, remaining in the top league for two seasons before relegation in 1976. MFK Vítkovice
MFK Vítkovice is a football club from Vítkovice (Ostrava), Vítkovice, Ostrava, Czech Republic. It was founded in 1919 as FC Vítkovice, announced bankruptcy in 2011 and transformed to MFK Vítkovice. The club won the Czechoslovak First League in the 1985–86 Czechoslovak First League, 1985–86 season. The club has always been somewhat overshadowed by the town's main team FC Baník Ostrava. The teams have a mutual rivalry, as Baník is based in the Czech Silesia, Silesian part of the city, while Vítkovice are located in the Moravian part of Ostrava. Dukla Prague
Dukla Prague ( cz, Dukla Praha) was a Czech football club from the city of Prague. Established in 1948 as ATK Praha, the club won a total of 11 Czechoslovak league titles and eight Czechoslovak Cups, and in the 1966–67 season, reached the semi-finals of the European Cup. As late as 1985–86 they reached the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup semi-final and they also made a great impact in the American Challenge Cup competition in New York City with four wins between 1961 and 1964. The club sent seven players to the silver medal-winning Czechoslovakia national team in the 1962 World Cup, in a year which saw them win the fifth of their domestic league titles as well as their player Josef Masopust be named European Footballer of the Year.
