Andrea Benvenuti (born 13 December 1969 in Negrar, Verona) is an Italian former 800 metres runner. Biography He won the gold medal at the 1994 European Championships in Helsinki. Previously, he had come fifth in the 1992 Olympic final and third in the World Cup 1992. He represented his country at the 1993 World Championships in Athletics. He is the Italian record holder of the 1000 metres with the time of 2:15.76. His personal best in 800 metres is 1:43.92. He is a two-time national champion at the Italian Athletics Championships. Martín Fiz
Martín Fiz Martín (born 3 March 1963 in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Álava) is a long-distance runner from Spain, who won the marathon at the 1994 European Athletics Championships in Helsinki and repeated his success at the 1995 World Athletics Championships in Gothenburg. The same year he captured the title in the Rotterdam Marathon. At the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta Fiz came fourth in the marathon. A year later he won a silver medal at the 1997 World Championships in Athletics in Athens, finishing behind his countryman Abel Anton. He competed in three consecutive Summer Olympics for his native country, starting in 1992. Stéphane Franke
Stéphane Franke (February 12, 1964 – June 23, 2011) was a long-distance runner representing Germany, who twice won the bronze medal in the men's 10.000 metres at the European Championships (1994 and 1998). He represented Germany twice at the Summer Olympics, in Athletics at the 1992 Summer Olympics, 1992 (Barcelona) and Athletics at the 1996 Summer Olympics, 1996 in Atlanta, Georgia, Atlanta. Having been born in Versailles (city), Versailles, France, Franke also held French nationality law, French citizenship. At age five, he moved to Bergisch Gladbach with his family. Eventually they made their home in Filderstadt, near Stuttgart. Franke joined SV Salamander Kornwestheim from Kornwestheim, also near Stuttgart. In 1997, he moved to Berlin and became part of SC Charlottenburg, SC Charlottenburg Berlin. Vincent Rousseau
Vincent Rousseau (born 29 July 1962 in Mons, Hainaut) is a former long-distance runner from Belgium, who competed in three consecutive Summer Olympics for his native country, starting in 1984. In 1993, he had his biggest success by winning the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships in Brussels, the next year followed by the first place in the Rotterdam Marathon. Twice (1985 and 1993) Rousseau was named ''Belgian Sportsman of the Year''. He had much success at the Lotto Cross Cup (Belgium's annual cross country running series) and was the overall season winner five times consecutively between 1983–88 and he earned a further three consecutive wins between 1990 and 1993. Abel Antón
Abel Antón Rodrigo (born 24 October 1962 in Ojuel, municipality of Cabrejas del Campo, Soria) is a Spanish long-distance runner. He won gold medals in the marathon at the 1997 and the 1999 World Championships in Athletics. In 1998 Antón became the first Spanish runner to win the London Marathon. He also won the Berlin Marathon in 1996, giving him major marathon championships in 4 consecutive years (1996 through 1999.) Robert Neil "Rob" Denmark (born 23 November 1968) is a British former middle- and long-distance runner who won a gold medal in the 5000 metres at the 1994 Commonwealth Games, a silver medal in the 5000 metres at the 1994 European Championships, and a bronze medal in the 3000 metres at the 1991 IAAF World Indoor Championships. A two-time Olympian, he finished seventh in the 5000 metres final at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Dieter Baumann
Dieter Baumann (, ; born 9 February 1965) is a former German athlete and winner of the 5000 m at the 1992 Summer Olympics. He also won the silver medal in the same event (5000 m) at the 1988 Summer Olympics. In 1999 Baumann tested positive for nandrolone and received a two-year suspension. Biography Born in Blaustein, Germany (then West Germany), Dieter Baumann was one of the few non-African athletes who were able to seriously challenge the African dominance of middle-distance running during the 1990s. Baumann was equally adept at both the 1,500 m and 5,000 m distances. Although Baumann came second in the 3,000 m at the European Indoor Championships in 1987, few considered him a medal chance at the 1988 Summer Olympics. Branko Zorko
Branko Zorko (born 1 July 1967) is a Croatian retired middle distance runner who specialized in the 1500 metres. Zorko competed in the 1500 metres in five Olympic Games, from 1988 to 2004, making it through to the semi-finals in 1992 and 1996. He won bronze medals at the 1993 World Indoor Championships in Toronto and the 1994 European Championships in Helsinki. In 1992 he was awarded the Franjo Bučar State Award for Sport.
