1993–94 Real Madrid CF Season
The 1993–94 season was the 63rd season for Real Madrid CF in La Liga. Summary Real Madrid endured a turbulent season, finishing fourth in La Liga. The team extended its increasingly frustrating run of failing to win the league title to four years. Early in the season, Madrid was nearly sunk to the relegation zone after three straight defeats in four league matches. In March, Benito Floro was fired after a 2-1 defeat against UE Lleida, with the club hiring Vicente del Bosque as an interim manager until 30 June 1994 before former Real Madrid legend Jorge Valdano taking over in July. Real also suffered a nasty Copa del Rey exit after a 1–5 aggregate loss to Tenerife in the quarter-finals and a European Cup Winners' Cup elimination as a result of a 1–2 aggregate defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals. Real Madrid Club de Fútbol C, commonly known as Real Madrid C, was a Spanish association football team that played in the Tercera División – Group 7. It was Real Madrid's second reserve team. They played their home games at La Ciudad del Real Madrid in Valdebebas outside the city of Madrid. At the end of the 2014–15 Tercera División, Real Madrid C was disbanded. The 1994–95 season was the 64th season for Real Madrid in La Liga. Summary During the summer, the club was reinforced in the midfield with Danish playmaker Michael Laudrup (in a controversial transfer from Barcelona) and Argentine Fernando Redondo; right back defender Sánchez Flores arrived from Valencia, and changes came to the dugout too, with Argentine head coach Jorge Valdano arriving from CD Tenerife after seven years of his forced retirement as a player during the climax of " La Quinta del Buitre" era. Luis Miguel Ramis Monfort (born 25 July 1970) is a Spanish retired professional footballer who played mainly as a central defender, currently manager of CD Tenerife. Miguel Porlán Noguera (born 12 October 1961), known as Chendo, is a Spanish former footballer who played as a right-back. He spent his entire professional career with Real Madrid, making 497 official appearances and winning several titles. Mikel Lasa Goikoetxea (born 9 September 1971) is a Spanish football retired player and current manager. He played as a left back. He currently manages Futuro Kings FC in Equatorial Guinea. Carlos David Cano Marín (born 17 December 1969), is a Spanish retired footballer who played as a goalkeeper, and is currently the goalkeeping coach of Albacete Balompié. Pedro Luis Jaro Reguero (born 22 February 1963) is a Spanish retired footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Playing career After emerging through local CDC Moscardó's youth ranks, Madrid-born Jaro started his professional career with Cádiz CF in the 1983–84 season, playing once in an eventual La Liga relegation.
