1992–93 Ekstraklasa
The 1992–93 Ekstraklasa (then known as I liga) was the 58th season of the highest tier domestic division in the Polish football league system since its establishment in 1927. It was contested by 18 teams. Siarka Tarnobrzeg made their first Ekstraklasa appearance in the club's history. Lech Poznań successfully defended their title after two final day games (Wisła Kraków vs Legia Warsaw 0–6; ŁKS Łódź vs Olimpia Poznań 7–1) had been cancelled due to allegations of "unsportsmanlike conduct during the game". Known colloquially as " The Sunday of Miracles", UEFA subsequently disqualified Polish clubs from the UEFA Cup competitions. Ekstraklasa
Poland Ekstraklasa (), meaning "Extra Class" in Polish, named PKO Ekstraklasa since the 2019–20 season due to its sponsorship by PKO Bank Polski, is the top Polish professional league for men's association football teams. Contested by 18 clubs, operating a system of promotion and relegation with the I liga, seasons start in July, and end in May or June the following year. Teams play a total of 34 games each. Games are played on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. The winner of the Ekstraklasa qualifies for the Polish SuperCup. The league is now operated by the Ekstraklasa Spółka Akcyjna. Sunday Of Miracles
The Sunday of Miracles ( pl, Niedziela cudów) is a colloquial description of the events that took place during the last matchday of the 1992–93 Ekstraklasa season. Background In the 1992–93 season, Legia Warsaw, ŁKS Łódź and Lech Poznań fought for the national championship. Before the last round of the table, Legia was in the lead before ŁKS, having the same number of points, but the goal difference was three goals better than the club from Łódź. In the last round, ŁKS played with Olimpia Poznań, and Legia with Wisła Kraków. Both teams won their matches high (ŁKS 7–1, Legia 6–0), which raised suspicions of corruption. Although neither Legia nor ŁKS was found guilty, the Polish Football Association (PZPN) decided to cancel the results of the matches of both teams and award the championship to Lech Poznań. 1993–94 UEFA Champions League
The 1993–94 UEFA Champions League was the 39th season of the UEFA Champions League, UEFA's premier club football tournament, and the second season with the UEFA Champions League logo (it was adopted in the group stage and semi-finals, the rest of the tournament continued to be called "European Champion Clubs' Cup" or "European Cup"). The competition was won by Milan, their fifth title, beating Barcelona 4–0 in the final. Marseille were the defending champions, but were not allowed to enter the competition due their involvement in a match-fixing scandal in Division 1 the season prior. This saw them stripped of their league title and demoted to Division 2 at the end of 1993–94. Hutnik Kraków (Polish pronunciation: ) is a Polish football club based in Kraków, Poland. History The club was founded in 1950. Hutnik have played seven seasons in the Polish Ekstraklasa (Polish first division). The team's greatest success is a third place in the 1995/96 season, as a result of which they qualified for the UEFA Cup. Zawisza Bydgoszcz () is a sports club from Bydgoszcz, Poland, founded in 1946. Its name commemorates a legendary Polish 15th-century knight, Zawisza Czarny (Zawisza the Black).
