1992 Solheim Cup
The second Solheim Cup golf match took place from 2 October to 4 October 1992 at Dalmahoy Country Club, Edinburgh, Scotland. The European team beat the United States team 11 points to 6, to win the trophy for the first time. Teams The US team captain, Kathy Whitworth had to return to the US before the start of the competition following the death of her mother the day the team arrived. Dalmahoy
Dalmahoy (Scottish Gaelic: ''Dail MoThua'') is a hotel and former country house near Edinburgh, Scotland. It is located off the A71 road, south of Ratho. The house is protected as a category A listed building, History The estate was the property of the Dalmahoys until the early 18th century. James VI of Scotland stayed at the old castle in April 1589 while hunting. James VI hunted at Dalmahoy with his brother-in-law, the Duke of Holstein on 18 March 1598. The present house was built in 1725 for George Dalrymple, a younger son of the Earl of Stair, and was designed by the architect William Adam (1689–1748). Dalmahoy was sold in 1750 to James Douglas, 14th Earl of Morton. In 1787 an extension and a number of alteration were made to designs by Alexander Laing. Monahans is a city in and the county seat of Ward County, Texas, United States. A very small portion of the city extends into Winkler County. The population was 6,953 at the 2010 census. Torphins
Torphins ( ; gd, Tòrr Fionn) is a village in Royal Deeside, Aberdeenshire, Scotland which lies about west of Aberdeen. It is situated on the A980, about north-west of Banchory, and was once served by the Great North of Scotland Railway. With a population of around 1,400, it is one of the larger villages in Deeside. Toponymy The name ''Torphins'' may come from the Gaelic ''Torr Fionn'', meaning fair/white hill, or as a corruption of ''Tor Feithachan'', meaning hill of the bogs. Pamela Wright (born 26 June 1964) is a professional golfer who played on the Ladies European Tour and LPGA Tour. She played in the European Solheim Cup team in 1990, 1992 and 1994. Golf career Wright lost to Maureen Madill in a playoff for the 1980 Ladies' British Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship, after taking a bogey 5 at the first extra hole. She played for the Great Britain & Ireland team in the 1981 Vagliano Trophy. In 1982 she met Jane Connachan in the final of the Scottish Women's Amateur Championship, losing at the 19th hole. Ladybank
Ladybank () is a village and former burgh of Fife, Scotland. It is about north of Edinburgh, southwest of Cupar, close to the River Eden. Its 2006 population was estimated at 1,582. History Before the 18th century, this area was mostly marshland. In 1247 Roger de Quincy, 2nd Earl of Winchester granted the monks of Lindores Abbey the right to cut peat from a peat-moss called Monegre, to which monks gave the name ''Our Lady's Bog'' (the southwestern part of the village is still called ''Monkstown''). Dale Reid
Dale Reid (born 20 March 1959) is a Scottish professional golfer from Ladybank, Fife. She is one of the most successful players in the history of the Ladies European Tour, with 21 tournament victories. She topped the Order of Merit in 1984 and 1987 and was made a life member of the tour after collecting her 20th title at the 1991 Ford Classic. She played for Europe in the first four Solheim Cups (1990, 1992, 1994 and 1996) and was Europe's non-playing captain in 2000 and 2002. Catrin Maria Nilsmark (born 30 August 1967) is a Swedish professional golfer who played on both the United States-based LPGA Tour and the Ladies European Tour. Early life Nilsmark was born in Gothenburg, Sweden. She grew up in Lerum east of Gothenburg and began her golf career at Öijared Golf Club, Sweden's first golf club with two 18-hole courses. Alison Nicholas, (born 6 March 1962) is an English professional golfer. Amateur career Nicholas was born in Gibraltar. She was educated at the School of St Mary and St Anne (now Abbots Bromley School for Girls). She enjoyed a very successful amateur career in England. She started playing golf at the age of 17 and won the 1982 and 1983 Northern Girls Amateur Open. Nicholas was the 1983 British Amateur Stroke Play champion. Liselotte Neumann
Liselotte Maria "Lotta" Neumann (born 20 May 1966) is a Swedish professional golfer. When she recorded her first LPGA Tour win, by claiming the 1988 U.S. Women's Open title, Neumann also became the first Swedish golfer, male or female, to win a major championship. Early years Neumann was born and grew up in Finspång, Sweden. Her father Rune was a former football player and coach of a local girls football team.
