1992 Memorial Cup
The 1992 Memorial Cup occurred May 9–17 at the Coliseum in Seattle. It was the 74th annual Memorial Cup competition and determined the major junior ice hockey champion of the Canadian Hockey League (CHL). Participating teams were the Western Hockey League host Seattle Thunderbirds, as well as the winners of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Western Hockey League and Ontario Hockey League which were the Verdun Collège Français, Kamloops Blazers and Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. Kamloops won their first Memorial Cup in dramatic fashion, defeating Sault Ste. Marie in the final game on Zac Boyer's game-winning goal with 14 seconds remaining in regulation time. Seattle Center Coliseum
Climate Pledge Arena is a multi-purpose indoor arena in Seattle, Washington, United States. It is located north of Downtown Seattle in the entertainment complex known as Seattle Center, the site of the 1962 World's Fair, for which it was originally developed. After opening in 1962, it was subsequently bought and converted by the city of Seattle for entertainment purposes. The 1991–92 WHL season was the 26th season for the Western Hockey League. Fifteen teams completed a 72-game season. New Jersey Devils
The New Jersey Devils are a professional sports, professional ice hockey team based in Newark, New Jersey. The Devils compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Metropolitan Division in the Eastern Conference (NHL), Eastern Conference. Scott Niedermayer
Scott Niedermayer (born August 31, 1973) is a Canadian former ice hockey defenceman and current special assignment coach of the Anaheim Ducks. He played 18 seasons and over 1,000 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the New Jersey Devils and Anaheim Ducks. Niedermayer is a four-time Stanley Cup champion and played in five NHL All-Star Games. He won the James Norris Memorial Trophy in 2003–04 as the NHL's top defenceman and the Conn Smythe Trophy in 2007 as the most valuable player of the playoffs. In 2017, Niedermayer was named one of the 100 Greatest NHL Players in history. The Los Angeles Kings are a professional ice hockey team based in Los Angeles. Darryl Sydor
Darryl Marion Sydor (born May 13, 1972) is a Canadian-American former professional ice hockey defenceman. He won two Stanley Cups during his career: with the Dallas Stars in 1999, and with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2004. He also reached the Stanley Cup Finals in 1993 as a member of the Los Angeles Kings, in 2000 as a member of the Dallas Stars and in 2008 as a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Jarrett Deuling
Jarrett Rufus Deuling (born March 4, 1974 in Vernon, British Columbia) is a Canadian retired professional ice hockey player. He played in 15 games for the New York Islanders during the 1995–96 and 1996–97 seasons. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1994 to 2001, was mainly spent in the minor American Hockey League. Playing career Deuling played junior hockey with the Kamloops Blazers of the Western Hockey League for four seasons. After being drafted by the NHL's New York Islanders, Jarrett reported to New York's AHL franchise, the Worcester IceCats. Craig Lyons
Craig Lyons (born December 25, 1972) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey and inline hockey player. Lyons played three seasons (1990–1993) of major junior hockey with the Kamloops Blazers of the Western Hockey League (WHL), helping his team to win the 1992 Memorial Cup. He went on to play eleven seasons of professional hockey, mostly in the West Coast Hockey League (WCHL) where he suited up for 364 regular season contests. He was named to the WCHL First All-Star Team for the 1996–97, 1997–98 and 2000–01 seasons. During the 2000–01 WCHL season he scored 117 points to lead the WCHL in points, and was selected as the WCHL's Most Valuable Player. The Saskatoon Blades are a major junior ice hockey team playing in the Eastern Division of the Western Hockey League, formerly the Western Canadian Hockey League (WCHL). They are based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, playing at the 15,195-seat SaskTel Centre. History The Saskatoon Blades began play in 1964. The team previously played as the junior counterpart to the Saskatoon Quakers, until team owner Jim Piggott applied to the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (1948–1966), Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) to change the team's name and colours.
