1992 500 Km Of Magny-Cours
The 1992 500 km of Magny-Cours was the final race of the FIA Sportscar World Championship for both the 1992 season and overall as the championship failed the materialize for 1993. It was run on October 18, 1992. Peugeot used this home race to show off their new second evolution of the 905, running it for a few laps in practice before it was withdrawn. Peugeot instead ran a third 905 Evo 1B for the home crowd in the race. With the demise of the SWC, the 905 Evo 2 was never raced in competition. Euro Racing withdrew from the event following scrutineering after the arrest of team owner Charles Zwolsman. Official results Class winners in bold. Circuit De Nevers Magny-Cours (1992-2002)
Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours is a motor racing circuit located in central France, near the towns of Magny-Cours and Nevers, some from Paris and from Lyon. It staged the Formula One French Grand Prix from 1991 (succeeding Circuit Paul Ricard) to 2008, and the 24-hour Bol d'Or motorcycle endurance events from 2000 to 2014 (succeeded by Circuit Paul Ricard). It hosted the French motorcycle Grand Prix in 1992, and the Superbike World Championship in 1991 and annually since 2003. Magny-Cours has hosted several additional international championships, like the World Sportscar Championship, World Touring Car Championship, FIA GT Championship, World Series by Renault and Formula 3 Euroseries. Derek Stanley Arthur Warwick (born 27 August 1954) is a British former professional racing driver from England, who lives in Jersey. He raced for many years in Formula One, collecting four podiums but never winning a Grand Prix. Nick Adams (racing Driver)
Nick Adams (born 7 August 1948) is a British former racing driver. Adams raced in British Formula Atlantic competition in 1980 and 1981. He began racing part-time in the World Sportscar Championship in 1985 and raced there until 1992. He made his 24 Hours of Le Mans debut for Chamberlain Engineering driving a Spice SE89C in 1989. He drove that car for Chamberlain until 1993. He made a single British F2 start in 1992 for Madgwick International. He made his last Le Mans drive in 1995 driving a GT2 Class Porsche 911 to sixth in class. Ferdinand De Lesseps
Ferdinand Marie, Comte de Lesseps (; 19 November 1805 – 7 December 1894) was a French diplomat and later developer of the Suez Canal, which in 1869 joined the Mediterranean and Red Seas, substantially reducing sailing distances and times between Europe and East Asia. He attempted to repeat this success with an effort to build a Panama Canal at sea level during the 1880s, but the project was devastated by epidemics of malaria and yellow fever in the area, as well as beset by financial problems, and the planned Lesseps Panama Canal was never completed. The Mazda MXR-01 is a Group C sports prototype that was used by Mazda's factory team Mazdaspeed in the 1992 World Sportscar Championship season. It would be the final Mazda entry in sports car racing since the inception of its Le Mans project in 1983. It was based on the Jaguar XJR-14.
