These are the official results of the Women's 3.000 metres event at the 1991 IAAF World Championships in Tokyo, Japan. 3000 Metres
The 3000 metres or 3000-metre run is a track running event, also commonly known as the "3K" or "3K run", where 7.5 laps are run around an outdoor 400 m track, or 15 laps around a 200 m indoor track. It is debated whether the 3000m should be classified as a middle-distance or long-distance event. In elite-level competition, 3000 m pace is more comparable to the pace found in the longer 5000 metres event, rather than mile pace. The world record performance for 3000 m equates to a pace of 58.76 seconds per 400 m, which is closer to the 60.43 seconds for 5000 m than the 55.46 seconds for the mile. However, the 3000 m does require some anaerobic conditioning, and an elite athlete needs to develop a high tolerance to lactic acid, as does the mile runner. Annette Peters (née Hand; born May 31, 1965) is an American long-distance runner. She competed in the women's 3000 metres at the 1992 Summer Olympics. She was a four-time participant at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships and a three-time participant at the World Championships in Athletics. Leah Pells
Leah Marlee Pells (born November 9, 1964 in Vancouver, British Columbia) is a retired female track and field Athletics (sport), athlete from Canada who competed in the middle-distance running, middle distance events and was once ranked first in the world in the 1500 metres. She represented Canada at three consecutive Summer Olympics from Athletics at the 1992 Summer Olympics, 1992 to 2000. Pells finished fourth in the Athletics at the 1996 Summer Olympics – Women's 1500 metres, 1500 metre race in 1996 Summer Olympics, Atlanta. Pells won the silver medal in the women's 1500 metres at the Athletics at the 1999 Pan American Games, 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg. Pells published her autobiography ''Not About the Medal'' in 2012. In the book, she writes about being the daughter of an alcoholic, experiencing abuse and growing up impoverished. Her personal best of 8:38.97 minutes for the event is a former French record, which lasted from 1989 to 1999. Anne Rochelle Steely Ramirez (born October 23, 1962), née Anne Rochelle Steely, is a former long-distance runner who competed internationally for the United States. She specialized in the 3,000 meters on the track and later competed in road running events. She made her international debut in cross country and helped the United States the women's team title at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in 1985. Her focus changed to the 3,000 meters, a distance in which she was a two-time US champion (outdoors in 1991 and indoors in 1992).
