1990–91 Sharjah Cup
The 1990 Sharjah Cup was a cricket tournament held in Sharjah, UAE, between December 20–21, 1990. Two national teams took part: Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Two other sides – India and West Indies – had been scheduled to take part, but withdrew due to the Gulf crisis. Pakistan won the tournament on superior run-rate after each side won one match each. Pakistan won US$20,000 while Sri Lanka won US$10,000. The tournament was sponsored by Instaphone. One Day International
A One Day International (ODI) is a form of limited overs cricket, played between two teams with international status, in which each team faces a fixed number of overs, currently 50, with the game lasting up to 9 hours. The Cricket World Cup, generally held every four years, is played in this format. One Day International matches are also called Limited Overs Internationals (LOI), although this generic term may also refer to Twenty20 International matches. They are major matches and considered the highest standard of List A, limited-overs competition. The international one day game is a late-twentieth-century development. Mushtaq Ahmed Malik ( مشتاق احمد گجر ; born 28 June 1970) is a Pakistani cricket coach and former cricketer who currently acts as the spin bowling coach for the Pakistan Cricket Team. A leg break googly bowler, at his peak he was described as being one of the best three wrist-spinners in the world. Kahakatchchi Patabandige Jayananda Warnaweera (born 23 November 1960) is a former Sri Lankan cricketer who played in 10 Test cricket, Test matches and six One Day Internationals from 1986 to 1994. Piloo Dara Reporter (24 September 1938 – 3 September 2023) was an Indian international cricket umpire who umpired in 14 Test matches and 22 One Day Internationals in a career spanning three decades. He was among the first of the two neutral umpires, in modern cricket, when he officiated in a Test match between Pakistan and the West Indies in Lahore in 1986. Biography Reporter was born in Bombay on 24 September 1938. He started his career with the Maharashtra State Electricity Board. He responded to an advertisement by the then-Bombay Cricket Association calling for umpires. He failed the tests initially, but, later made it as an umpire with the association and started by officiating as an umpire in the domestic circuit.
