1988 Metro Manila Film Festival
The 14th Metro Manila Film Festival was held in 1988. An unheralded and obscure movie, ''Patrolman'' was named the Best Picture in the 1988 Metro Manila Film Festival. The lead star, once unknown stuntman-actor Baldo Marro won the Best Actor award for his role as a dedicated policeman edging out the favored Christopher de Leon. Amy Austria won the Best Actress award for her convincing performance of a woman who led a life of crime in ''Bubbles: Ativan Gang''. Other awardees include Best Director for Laurice Guillen, Best Supporting Actor for Dick Israel and Best Supporting Actress for Jacklyn Jose among others. Gina Pareño (; born Geraldine Acthley; October 20, 1947) is a Filipina actress. Early life Pareño was born to a German American father and a Filipina mother. Max Alvarado
Max Alvarado (February 19, 1929 – April 6, 1997) was a FAMAS award-winning Filipino film actor known mainly by his portrayals of villains in a career which spanned six decades. Early life Max Alvarado was born as Gavino Maximo Teodosio in Manila. In his youth, he was a member of street gangs, as well as an itinerant manual laborer. Career He broke into films in 1948 as a bit player in ''Halik sa Bandila''. Soon after, he was frequently cast as a villain in films produced by Premiere Production and its sister company, Larry Santiago Productions, as well as People's Pictures.
