1988 Dutch TT
The 1988 Dutch TT was the eighth round of the 1988 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season. It took place on the weekend of 23–25 June 1988 at the TT Circuit Assen located in Assen, Netherlands. 500 cc race report Christian Sarron on pole, but dropped to the back after a terrible start. Through the first turn it was Eddie Lawson, Pierfrancesco Chili, Ron Haslam, Didier De Radiguès, Wayne Gardner, et al. Haslam ran wide and rode off into the grass. Through the chicane at the end of the first lap, it was Lawson, De Radiguès, Chili, Gardner, Kevin Magee, Rob McElnea, Randy Mamola, Patrick Igoa, Sarron and Wayne Rainey. There was a small gap from Lawson to De Radiguès to Gardner. Gardner caught De Radiguès and started to bridge up to Lawson. De Radiguès slid out but remounted. Sarron and Magee fought for 3rd. TT Circuit Assen
The TT Circuit Assen is a motorsport race track built in 1955 and located in Assen, Netherlands. Host of the Dutch TT, it is popularly referred to as "The Cathedral" of motorcycling by the fans of the sport. The venue has the distinction of holding the most Grand Prix motorcycle races every year (except ) since the series was created in . It has a capacity of 110,000 spectators, including 60,000 seats. Louis Christen Racing
Louis Christen Racing (LCR) is a Switzerland, Swiss sidecar manufacturer named after founder Louis Christen. LCR sidecars have dominated sidecar road racing winning 30 Sidecar World Championship, World Sidecar Championships including every one of Steve Webster (sidecar racer), Steve Webster's 10 world championships. LCR started in 1971 building open wheel racing cars, Formula Vee, Formula Ford and Formula 3. In 1976 the first LCR sidecar was designed. Randy Mamola (born November 10, 1959) is an American former professional motorcycle racer and television sports presenter. He competed in Grand Prix motorcycle racing between and . Kevin Magee (born 16 July 1962 in Horsham, Victoria) is an Australian former Grand Prix motorcycle road racer who raced in 36 grands prix during his career, winning the 1988 Spanish Grand Prix. Ron Haslam
Ronald Haslam (born 22 June 1956) is an English former Grand Prix motorcycle road racer who had been racing for over thirty years, winning two World titles, four British championships and having ridden in almost 110 GPs. Haslam spends much of his time helping his son Leon Haslam in his racing career and previously trained riders and racers alike at his former Race School based at Donington racetrack, Leicestershire. Starting out One of ten siblings from Langley Mill, near the Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire boundary, Haslam started racing in 1972 on a 750cc Norton Commando. Pierfrancesco Chili
Pierfrancesco 'Frankie' Chili, (born 20 June 1964 in Bologna, Italy) is a former motorcycle racer who competed in the Superbike World Championship and the 250 cc and 500 cc classes in Grand Prix. In September 2020 he confirmed he was suffering from Parkinson's disease. In World Superbike he had a record number of starts, as well as 10 poles and 17 wins. He retired at the end of the season.
