1987–88 Segunda División B
The 1987–88 Segunda División B season was the 11th since its establishment. The first matches of the season were played on 29 August 1987, and the season ended in 22 May 1988. Overview before the season 80 teams joined the league, including 63 promoted from the 1986–87 Tercera División after the expansion to four groups. No teams were relegated from the 1986–87 Segunda División. The composition of the groups was determined by the Royal Spanish Football Federation, attending to geographical criteria. Segunda División B
Segunda División B ( en, Second Division B) was the third tier of the Spanish football league system containing 102 teams divided into five groups, until it was replaced by the new structure in 2021. It was administered by the Royal Spanish Football Federation. It was below the top two professional leagues, the ''Primera División'' (also known as La Liga) and the ''Segunda División'', and above the ''Tercera División''. The Segunda División B included the reserve teams of a number of La Liga and Segunda División teams. For the 2021–22 season, Segunda División B was replaced by Segunda División RFEF, which became the fourth tier due to the creation of a new, semi-professional third division by the Spanish federation (RFEF) called the Primera División RFEF. Club Deportivo Mirandés is a Spanish football team based in Miranda de Ebro, Province of Burgos, in the autonomous community of Castile and León. 1986–87 Segunda División
The 1986–87 Segunda División season saw 18 teams participate in the second flight Spanish league. It was the longest season ever in Spanish football. The league was reduced to 18 teams and had two phases. In the first one all 18 teams played each other twice (home and away). At the end of the first phase, the first twelve teams qualified for promotion groups (Group A1 for teams that finished in an odd position and Group A2 for teams that finished in an even position) and last six qualified for relegation group (Group B). In the second phase, teams played only against teams of the same group twice (home and away) and carried their first phase record. Champions of promotion groups (Valencia CF and Celta de Vigo) and best second (CD Logroñés) were promoted to Primera División. Xavier Escaich Ferrer (born 6 September 1968) is a former Spanish footballer who played as a forward. Club career Escaich began playing youth football for hometown club UE Castelldefels, before moving to CF Gavà and CF Blanca Subur. In 1987, Escaich began his senior career with Gimnàstic in the Segunda División B, scoring 25 goals in 36 games. A year later, Escaich joined Hospitalet, before signing for Primera División club Espanyol. Escaich stayed at Espanyol for five seasons, joining Primera División club Sporting Gijón in 1993. In 1994, Escaich joined Barcelona as a replacement for departing forward Julio Salinas.
