1987–88 Biathlon World Cup
The 1987–88 Biathlon World Cup was a multi-race tournament over a season of biathlon, organised by the UIPMB ( Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne et Biathlon). The season started on 17 December 1987 in Hochfilzen, Austria, and ended on 20 March 1988 in Jyväskylä, Finland. It was the 11th season of the Biathlon World Cup. The women's European Cup changed its name to World Cup. The first round of the World Cup in Hochfilzen had scheduled individuals, sprints and relays, but the sprints and relays were cancelled due to heavy rainfall destroying the tracks. The sprint races were later held in Keuruu, with the rest of that World Cup round being held in Jyväskylä. Fritz Fischer
Fritz Fischer (5 March 1908 – 1 December 1999) was a German historian best known for his analysis of the causes of World War I. In the early 1960s Fischer advanced the controversial thesis at the time that responsibility for the outbreak of the war rested solely on Imperial Germany. Fischer's anti-revisionist claims shocked the West German government and historical establishment, as it made Germany guilty for both world wars, challenging the national belief in Germany's innocence and converting its recent history into one of conquest and aggression. Chamonix
Chamonix-Mont-Blanc ( frp, Chamôni), more commonly known as Chamonix, is a commune in the Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of southeastern France. Jan Matouš
Jan Matouš (born 30 May 1961) is a former Czechoslovakian biathlete. At the 1987 World Championships in Lake Placid, New York. Matouš won a bronze medal in the 20 km individual. He also won a silver medal in the team competition at the 1990 World Championships in Minsk. Matouš's best Olympic placing was a 9th place in the sprint event at the 1984 Olympics in Sarajevo. Andreas Zingerle
Andreas Zingerle (; born 25 November 1961) is an Italian former biathlete. At the 1988 Olympics in Calgary, Zingerle won a bronze medal in the relay. At the World Championships Zingerle accumulated one individual gold medal and three golds and a bronze in relay and team events. He has later become the head coach of Italian National Team. Under his tenure the Italians collected several medals at the Olympic Winter Games and World Championships, including Gold Medals by Dominik Windisch and Dorothea Wierer at the Biathlon World Championships 2019. Eirik Kvalfoss
Eirik Kvalfoss (born 25 December 1959) is a Norwegian retired biathlete. Life and career He won three medals during the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo: gold in the 10 km sprint, silver in relay and bronze in the 20 km individual. In total Kvalfoss won 11 individual Olympic and World Championship medals between 1982–1991, as well as several relay medals. He was awarded ''Morgenbladets Gullmedalje'' in 1983. Friedrich "Fritz" Fischer (born 22 September 1956) is a former biathlete from Germany. He won a gold medal with Germany in the 4 × 7.5 km relay in the 1992 Winter Olympics.
