The 1987 Tirreno–Adriatico was the 22nd edition of the Tirreno–Adriatico cycle race and was held from 12 March to 18 March 1987. The race started in Latina and finished in San Benedetto del Tronto. The race was won by Rolf Sørensen of the Remac–Fanini team. Rolf Sørensen
Rolf Sørensen (born 20 April 1965) is a former Danish professional road bicycle racer. He is currently working as a cycling commentator and agent. Born in Helsinge in Denmark, Sørensen moved to Italy at the age of 17, where he has lived since. He was a client of Francesco Conconi and Luigi Cecchini. He goes under the name ''Il Biondo'' due to his blonde hair. He is married to Susanne. Accomplishments Sørensen won such classic one-day races as the Tour of Flanders, Liège–Bastogne–Liège, Paris–Brussels, Paris–Tours and Milano–Torino, as well as slightly smaller races like the Coppa Bernocchi (twice), and the Rund um den Henninger Turm or Grand Prix Frankfurt. He has led the UCI Road World Cup on several occasions, finishing third in 1989 and 1991 and second in 1997 after a broken foot kept him from scoring points in the last two World Cup races of the season. Teun Van Vliet
Teun van Vliet (born 22 March 1962 in Vlaardingen, South Holland) is a retired road bicycle racer from the Netherlands, who was a professional rider from 1984 to 1990. Van Vliet's best year was 1987, when he won Gent–Wevelgem, Omloop "Het Volk" and the Ronde van Nederland. The next year he wore the yellow jersey for three days in the 1988 Tour de France. Van Vlioet is the brother of the 1977 Dutch woman road champion Nita van Vliet and uncle of racing cyclist Kim de Baat. He is however not related to Leo van Vliet, another famous Dutch road cyclist in the late 1970s, early 1980s. Jesper Worre
Jesper Worre, (born 5 June 1959) is a former Danish professional bicycle racer and a former director of the Danmarks Cykle Union (DCU) by the board of directors. Biography Worre competed in the team time trial event at the 1980 Summer Olympics. He was a professional between 1982 and 1992 and took part in the 1989 Tour de France, finishing 88th in the general classification. Worre has once been tested positive for amineptine in 1992, he confessed to the use of doping, receiving a conditional suspension. Amineptine is a mild but pleasant stimulant and a fast-acting mood-brightener. Amineptine had been on the doping list for a couple of months before Worres confession of using amineptine, and was removed again from the list of banned performance-enhancing drugs shortly after. Francesco Moser
Francesco Moser ( or ; ; born 19 June 1951), nicknamed "Lo sceriffo" (The sheriff), is an Italian former professional road bicycle racer. He finished on the podium of the Giro d'Italia six times including his win in the 1984 edition. Moser was dominant from the mid-1970s to the early 1980s. He turned professional in 1973, showing a cultured pedaling style. But his powerful build meant he was not a gifted climber. He entered one edition of the Tour de France, in 1975, where he won two stages, held the Maillot Jaune for six days and finished 7th overall. He also won the 1977 world road racing championship in addition to collecting silver medals in 1976 and 1978. He won six times in three of the five monuments. Three editions of Paris-Roubaix, two victories in the Giro di Lombardia and one win in Milan-San Remo. San Benedetto del Tronto is a city and ''comune'' in Marche, Italy. Part of an urban area with 100,000 inhabitants, it is one of the most densely populated areas along the Adriatic Sea coast. Tirreno–Adriatico
Tirreno–Adriatico, nicknamed the "Race of the Two Seas", is an elite road cycling stage race in Italy, run between the Tyrrhenian and Adriatic coasts. Traditionally held in the early part of the season, it is considered to be an important preparation for the Giro d'Italia.
