1987 Intercontinental Cup (baseball)
The 1987 Intercontinental Cup was an association football match played on 13 December 1987 between Porto of Portugal, winners of the 1986–87 European Cup, and Peñarol of Uruguay, winners of the 1987 Copa Libertadores. The match was played at the neutral venue of the National Stadium in Tokyo in front of 45,000 fans. Heavy snow constantly fell during the match and because of this, the pitch was muddy and in bad playing conditions. A moment’s silence was observed before the match. FC Porto
Futebol Clube do Porto, MHIH, OM (), commonly known as FC Porto or simply Porto, is a Portuguese professional sports club based in Porto. It is best known for the professional football team playing in the Primeira Liga, the top flight of Portuguese football. Fernando Gomes (Portuguese Footballer)
Fernando Mendes Soares Gomes (22 November 1956 – 26 November 2022) was a Portuguese professional footballer who played as a striker. He achieved great success with Porto, during the late 1970s and 1980s. In the Primeira Liga he represented Sporting CP as well, and also spent two years in Spain with Sporting de Gijón. António Frasco
António Manuel Frasco Vieira (born 16 January 1955), known as Frasco, is a Portuguese former footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. Best known for his 11-year spell with Porto, he appeared in more than 300 official matches for the club and won a total of 13 major titles. He was chosen by Portuguese sports newspaper '' Record'' as one of the best 100 Portuguese football players ever. Frasco earned more than 20 caps for Portugal, representing the nation at Euro 1984. Quim (footballer, Born 1959)
Joaquim Carvalho de Azevedo (born 23 August 1959), commonly known as Quim, is a Portuguese former footballer who played as a defensive midfielder. Club career During a 16-year professional career, Vila do Conde-born Quim played for four clubs. He started out at hometown's Rio Ave FC, achieving two Primeira Liga promotions with them during his six-year spell, following which he signed for FC Porto aged 25. Quim was only regularly used in two of his five seasons with Porto, helping to the conquest of three leagues, one cup and two supercups. Zé Beto
José Alberto Teixeira Ferreirinha (21 February 1960 – 4 February 1990), known as Zé Beto, was a Portuguese footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He played almost his entire career at FC Porto, his life being cut short at 29 in a road accident. António dos Santos Ferreira André (born 24 December 1957) is a Portuguese retired footballer who played as a defensive midfielder. He gained notoriety for his tough tackling which on occasion bordered on the violent, and was best known for his lengthy spell with Porto, with which he won several domestic and continental accolades. António Augusto Gomes de Sousa (; born 28 April 1957) is a Portuguese former football central midfielder and manager. During his career he played, among others, for Porto and Sporting, amassing Primeira Liga totals of 483 matches and 83 goals over 18 seasons. Subsequently, he worked as a manager for several clubs. Jaime Magalhães
Jaime Fernandes Magalhães (; born 10 July 1962) is a Portuguese retired footballer who played as a right midfielder. During his professional career, he represented Porto for 15 seasons. Tiago Miguel Silva Vilela Lima Pereira (born 3 June 1994) is a Portuguese footballer who plays for Pevidém S.C. as a central defender. Club career Born in Póvoa de Varzim, Lima Pereira's final youth club was FC Porto, and he was an unused substitute for the reserves in Segunda Liga for two matches in the middle of the 2012–13 season.
