1987 Federation Cup (tennis)
The 1987 Federation Cup was the 25th edition of the most important competition between national teams in women's tennis. The tournament was held at Hollyburn Country Club in Vancouver, Canada, from 26 July – 2 August. West Germany won their first title, defeating the United States in the final. 1986 Federation Cup (tennis)
The 1986 Federation Cup was the 24th edition of the most important competition between national teams in women's tennis. The tournament was held at I. Czech Lawn Tennis Club in Prague, Czechoslovakia, from 20 to 27 July. The United States Fed Cup team, United States defeated three-time defending champions Czech Republic Fed Cup team, Czechoslovakia in the final (in what was a rematch of last year's final), giving the USA their 12th title. The finals marked Martina Navratilova's first return to Czechoslovakia since her defection to the United States in 1975. Qualifying round All ties were played at I. Tine Scheuer-Larsen
Tine Scheuer-Larsen (born 13 March 1966) is a retired tennis player from Denmark. She became Danish Champion in singles in 1981 age 15 as the youngest Danish player ever. She also became the highest ranked Danish female player on 29 September 1986, when she became the number 34 of the world. Both records were broken by Caroline Wozniacki in 2004 and 2008 respectively. She became a professional in 1980 and retired in 1994, having won seven doubles titles on the WTA Tour. Zhong Ni
Zhong Ni (born 20 May 1962) is a Chinese former professional tennis player who competed during the 1980s. Zhong was a member of the China Federation Cup team between 1984 and 1987, appearing in a total of 11 ties. She amassed five wins in singles rubbers and won once in doubles. ''Fanqie'' ( zh, t= 反切, p=fǎnqiè) is a method in traditional Chinese lexicography to indicate the pronunciation of a monosyllabic character by using two other characters, one with the same initial consonant as the desired syllable and one with the same rest of the syllable (the final). The method was introduced in the 3rd century AD and used in dictionaries and commentaries on the classics until the early 20th century. Claudia Hernández Salas (born 19 January 1966), known as Claudia Hernández, is a Mexican former professional tennis player.
