The 1987 Croke Cup was the 36th staging of the Croke Cup since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1944. The competition ran from 12 April to 10 May 1987. St Brendan's Community School were the defending champions, however, they were beaten by St Kieran's College in the Leinster final. Birr, County Offaly
Birr (; ga, Biorra, meaning "plain of water") is a town in County Offaly, Ireland. Between 1620 and 1899 it was called Parsonstown, after the Parsons family who were local landowners and hereditary Earls of Rosse. Birr is a designated Irish ''Heritage Town'' with a carefully preserved Georgian heritage. Birr itself has graceful wide streets and elegant buildings. Pat O'Neill (Kilkenny Hurler)
Patrick O'Neill (born 12 January 1971) is an Irish former hurler. At club level he played with Young Irelands and was also a member of the Kilkenny senior hurling team. He usually lined out as a centre-back. Career O'Neill first came to prominence at juvenile and underage levels with the Young Irelands club before eventually joining the club's top adult team. He had his first success in 1992 when Young Irelands won the County Intermediate Championship before claiming County Senior Championship titles in 1996 and 2002. O'Neill first appeared on the inter-county scene as part of the 1988 All-Ireland Championship-winning minor team, before later claiming an All-Ireland Championship title with the under-21 team. Athenry GAA
St. Mary's, Athenry is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Athenry in County Galway, Ireland. In men's competitions, the club is a dual club competing in both Gaelic football and hurling at various age levels. The club also competes in camogie competitions, and has won several county, province and national titles in the sport. History Athenry GAA club was founded in 1885. The Dr Harty Cup, officially known as the Munster Colleges Senior A Hurling Championship, is an annual inter-schools hurling competition organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-schools hurling competition in the province of Munster, and has been contested every year, except on two occasions, since 1918. St Brendan's Park
St Brendan's Park () is a GAA stadium in Birr, County Offaly, Ireland. It is one of the main grounds of Offaly's Gaelic football and hurling teams. The ground has a capacity of 8,800. Prior to the development of O'Connor Park in Tullamore, the ground was the base of Offaly hurling and played host to intercounty competitions and to the Offaly hurling county final. Most Offaly games have since transferred to Tullamore. Saint Brendan's Park is the home ground of the town’s GAA club. It is located on the south side of the town on Railway Road. The site was also the venue of the 1971 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship semi-final between Tipperary and Galway. 15,022 crammed into the venue to watch Tipperary see off Galway in a high scoring match. St Flannan's College
Saint Flannan's College is an Irish co-educational secondary school located in Ennis, County Clare, which takes its name from the 7th century patron saint of the Dál gCais. Formerly an all-boys boarding school, the first girls class was entered in 2002 and in 2005 the boarding school was closed. In 2003 an extension which added over 20 new rooms to the college was completed. A measure of the expansion that has taken place over the past thirty years is that in 1962, there were some 370 pupils, 140 of whom were day boys. Only 37 teachers were in attendance. By 2004, enrollment had risen to more than 1,001 students. Staff numbers had risen to 60. In September 2002, co-ed classes were introduced in First Year.
