1986–87 QMJHL Season
The 1986–87 QMJHL season was the List of QMJHL seasons, 18th Season (sports), season in the history of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Ten teams played 70 games each in the schedule. The two last place teams from previous season both won their divisions. The Granby Bisons finished first overall in the regular season, winning their first Jean Rougeau Trophy since relocating from Sorel Éperviers, Sorel, Quebec. The Longueuil Chevaliers won their first President's Cup (QMJHL), President's Cup, defeating the Chicoutimi Saguenéens in the finals. Patrice Lefebvre
Patrice Lefebvre (born June 28, 1967) is a Canadian-born Italian former ice hockey player. Lefebvre played three games in the National Hockey League for the Washington Capitals during the 1998–99 NHL season. Biography Lefebvre was born in Montreal, Quebec. As a youth, he played in the 1979 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from Ville-Émard. Despite putting up impressive numbers with the Shawinigan Cataractes in the QMJHL he was never drafted by an NHL-team, possibly due to his small stature (Lefebvre is listed as 5 ft 6 in (1,68 m) and 160 lb (73 kg)). Later in his career Lefebvre has played in DEL, Serie A, Oddset Ligaen and Nationalliga B. At the beginning of his career he also played in France and Nationalliga A. Guy Chouinard
Guy Camil Chouinard (born October 20, 1956) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played in the 1970s and 80's for the Atlanta Flames, Calgary Flames, and St. Louis Blues. He has also had a lengthy career as a coach in the QMJHL since retiring as a player. He is now head coach in Quebec's college hockey league with the Champlain-St. Lawrence Lions in Quebec City. Playing career As a youth, Chouinard played in four consecutive Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournaments from 1966 to 1969, with the Quebec Citdelle and Quebec Beavers minor ice hockey teams from Quebec City. Chouinard was selected by the Atlanta Flames with the 28th overall pick in the 1974 NHL Entry Draft, following a successful junior career with the Quebec Remparts in which he was a regular at the age of 15. Everett Sanipass
Everett Sanipass (born February 13, 1968) is a Canadian retired ice hockey forward. Sanipass was born in Elsipogtog First Nation, New Brunswick. Sanipass is the first Native Canadian to be inducted into the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame. Playing career Sanipass began his National Hockey League career with the Chicago Blackhawks in 1987 after being drafted 14th overall in the 1986 NHL Entry Draft. His indigenous heritage as a Mi'kmaq caused him to face racism early in his hockey career since he was prohibited from playing on off-reserve teams. Sanipass was the first native draft pick out of New Brunswick. His tally of forty-three goals and twenty-six assists in only thirty-seven games while playing in the New Brunswick Amateur Hockey Association drawing considerable attention. Stéphane Quintal
Stéphane Yvon Quintal (born October 22, 1968) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for 16 seasons. He served as senior vice president of player safety for the NHL from 2014 to 2016. Playing career Quintal played 16 NHL seasons before retiring as a player in August 2005. He had been the last Montreal Canadiens player to wear number 5 before the Canadiens retired it in honour of Bernie "Boom-Boom" Geoffrion. Quintal joined the Department of Player Safety, one of the NHL's disciplinary arms, at its creation at the opening of the 2011–12 season. Robert Desjardins
Robert Desjardins (born May 4, 1967) was a Canadian professional goaltender who had a stellar junior and university career but only a short professional career. Born in Verdun, Quebec, Desjardins played in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League from 1984 to 1988, each year with a different team. In 1984-85 he was with the Shawinigan Cataractes; in 1985-86 Hull Olympiques; in 1986-87 Longueuil Chevaliers; and in 1987-88 Victoriaville Tigres. Despite his team changes, Desjardins won several league awards, including leading goalie in 1985-86 and 1986–87, most valuable player in 1986-87, and defensive rookie in 1984-85. François Guay (born June 8, 1968) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey centre. Guay was born in Gatineau, Quebec. As a youth, he played in the 1980 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from Brossard. He was drafted in the eighth round, 152nd overall, by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1986 NHL Entry Draft. Luc Beausoleil (born October 8, 1967) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. Junior career Beausoleil played junior hockey in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with the Laval Voisins and Laval Titan. He was awarded the 1986–87 Frank J. Selke Memorial Trophy as the QMJHL's Most Sportsmanlike Player and was named to the 1986–87 Second All-Star Team.
