Hong Kong First Division League
The Hong Kong First Division League () is the second-highest division in the Hong Kong football league system. Established in 1908, it is the third oldest in Asia. The league was formerly the highest division in Hong Kong until the formation of the Hong Kong Premier League in 2014. Since 1908, a total of 29 clubs have been crowned champions of the Hong Kong football system. South China are the most successful club, having won 41 times since their first participation in 1941. Competition format Each team plays the other teams in the division twice, one home and one away game. The ticket profits go to the home team. If there are two matches in the same stadium on the day, the profits are shared between the two home teams. The top two teams in the league are offered promotion to the Premier League while the bottom two are relegated to the Hong Kong Second Division. South China Athletic Association (known simply as South China, SCAA, ) is a Hong Kong professional football club that competes in the Hong Kong First Division, the second-tier league in Hong Kong football league system. The club is historically one of the most successful football clubs in Hong Kong, having won a record 41 First Division titles, a record 31 Senior Shields, a record 10 FA Cups and 3 League Cups. The club has a very long history in playing in the top-tier league, but decided to self-relegate after the end of the 2016–17 season. Tung Sing Athletic Association () is a Hong Kong professional football club currently playing in the Hong Kong Second Division. Nicknamed the "Troops" (), the club was founded by former Hong Kong Football Association president Henry Fok in 1959 and wears orange as their primary colour. Goal difference, goal differential or points difference is a form of tiebreaker used to rank sport teams which finish on equal points in a league competition. In 1993, the parent company of the club, Ernest Borel, loaned the right to compete in the First Division to another company, and the team competed as Voicelink () during the 1993–94 season. Seiko Sports Association () were one of the most popular and successful football teams in the history of football in Hong Kong. The team withdrew from the Hong Kong First Division League after the 1985–86 season. History Seiko was a team sponsored and named by the agents of Seiko Corporation who entered the team into the Hong Kong Third Division in 1970. They finished runners up in the Third Division (B) League with a record of 26 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss from 28 matches and won promotion into the Second Division in the following season. The club was very successful in 1990s in the then top-tier First Division under the name Instant-Dict (). Tsuen Wan (football Club)
Tsuen Wan is a football team which is now an associate member of HKFA which does not participate in any division of the existing league. It is different from the Tsuen Wan team which participates in the Hong Kong Third 'District' Division League. The team entered the formed Third Division League in 1969–70. In the next season, the team was promoted to Second Division and captured the title immediately. In 1971–72, the team played its first First Division League season. It is the second team which got promoted from Third Division to First Division after Yuen Long. However, it relegated to Second Division again immediately in that season (26 matches played: 7 wins, 7 draws, 12 losses, 21 points). In 1980–81, the team was promoted to First Division again by finishing a second place in the last season.
