Charles Jones (Australian Politician)
Charles Keith Jones AO (12 September 19177 August 2003) was an Australian politician and government minister. He was Minister for Transport (19 December 197212 June 1974) and Minister for Civil Aviation (19 December 197230 November 1973) in the Second Whitlam ministry and Minister for Transport (12 June 197411 November 1975) in the Third Whitlam ministry. Betty Cuthbert
Elizabeth Alyse Cuthbert, (20 April 1938 – 6 August 2017) was an Australian athlete and a four-time Olympic champion. She was nicknamed Australia's "Golden Girl". During her career, she set world records for 60 metres, 100 yards, 200 metres, 220 yards and 440 yards. Cuthbert also contributed to Australian relay teams completing a win in the 4 × 100 metres, 4 × 110 yards, 4 × 200 metres and 4 × 220 yards. Cuthbert had a distinctive running style, with a high knee lift and mouth wide open. Arthur Ernest Bishop
Arthur Ernest Bishop AM (19172006) was a noted Australian engineer and inventor. Life Bishop was born in Sydney, New South Wales in 1917. He demonstrated highly innovative capabilities during the Second World War relating to overcoming problems of instability of aircraft tail-wheel landing gear during take-off and landing, and was awarded license fees for his inventions. These were significant and partly as a result, he was able in 1954 to move to Detroit, Michigan, United States, with ideas and patents to improve steering systems for automobiles, and for the next two decades introduced improvements into various vehicles around the world mainly in aspects of hydraulically powered and variable-ratio steering. In order to license the ideas or supply purpose-built manufacturing equipment, he developed both lower-cost methods for mass production, while also giving improvements to steering feel and vehicle response. John Bertrand (sailor, Born 1946)
John Edwin Bertrand AO (born 20 December 1946) is a yachtsman from Australia, who skippered ''Australia II'' to victory in the 1983 America's Cup, ending 132 years of American supremacy, and the only time Australia has won. Bertrand won the bronze medal in the Finn competition at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal. In 2010 and 2016, he won the world Etchells class sailing championships.
