1983–84 QMJHL Season
The 1983–84 QMJHL season was the 15th season in the history of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Eleven teams played 70 games each in the regular season. Mario Lemieux of the Laval Voisins scored 133 goals, and had 149 assists, setting the all-time Canadian Hockey League record of 282 points, and 133 goals in a regular season. Verdun Juniors
The Verdun Juniors were a junior ice hockey team in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League from 1982 to 1984. They played at the Verdun Auditorium. History The Verdun Juniors were assembled by general manager Eric Taylor, and coached by Pierre Creamer. Verdun won the Presidents Trophy in the 1982-83 season as playoff champions, defeating the Trois-Rivières Draveurs, Shawinigan Cataractes and the Longueuil Chevaliers. The Juniors would compete in the Memorial Cup that year versus the Lethbridge Broncos, Portland Winter Hawks and the Oshawa Generals. Verdun would lose 7-6 to Portland, defeat Lethbridge 4-3, lose 5-1 to Oshawa, and lose 6-5 to Oshawa in the semi-final game, ending their hopes of a Memorial Cup championship. Alain Raymond
Alain Raymond (born June 24, 1965) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender. He played one game in the National Hockey League with the Washington Capitals, giving up two goals in the two periods that he played. He played most of his career in the North American minor leagues. In his first full IHL season with the Fort Wayne Komets, Raymond won the James Norris Memorial Trophy, awarded to the goaltenders with the fewest goals against in the regular season. Raymond split most of his time during the 1989–90 season between two clubs. He played 31 games with the ECHL's Hampton Roads Admirals and played another 11 games with their parent club, the AHL's Baltimore Skipjacks. Raymond went 17–12–1 with a 3.60 GAA, earning him named the starting goalie on the East Coast Hockey League's all-star team. Yves Courteau
Yves Courteau (born April 25, 1964) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey forward who played in the National Hockey League for the Calgary Flames and Hartford Whalers from 1984–87. Courteau was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2nd round, 23rd overall in the 1982 NHL Entry Draft. He played 22 games in the NHL, recording two goals and five assists. Paul L. Gagné (born February 6, 1962) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played 390 games in the National Hockey League. Sergio Francesco Momesso (born September 4, 1965) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who spent 13 seasons in the National Hockey League between 1983 and 1997. Playing career Blessed with size and a mean streak to go with a soft touch around the net, Momesso played his junior hockey for the Shawinigan Cataractes of the QMJHL, and was drafted 27th overall in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft by his hometown Montreal Canadiens. He made his NHL debut the following season at the age of just 18, playing a single game for the Canadiens, but remained in junior for most of the following two seasons, during which time he began to dominate the QMJHL and establish himself as a blue-chip NHL prospect. Guy Rouleau (ice Hockey)
Guy Rouleau (April 16, 1965 – December 7, 2008) was a Canadian ice hockey player. Early life Rouleau was born in Beloeil, Quebec. He won the Michel Brière Memorial Trophy as the most valuable player in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League for his play with the Hull Olympiques during the 1985–86 QMJHL season. Career Rouleau was not drafted in the NHL Entry Draft and never played in the National Hockey League. He played three seasons in the American league with the Sherbrooke Canadiens (1986–88) and the Springfield Falcons (1989–90). He also played for various minor league teams until 1998.
