1983–84 ACB Season
The 1983–84 ACB season was the inaugural season of the ACB Primera División, the top Spanish professional basketball league. It started on 10 September 1983 with the first round of the regular season and ended on 13 April 1984 with the finals. The league was made up of the clubs that broke away from Spanish Basketball Federation at the end of the 1982–83 season with the aim to professionalize the league. The new league introduced the best-of-three playoffs at the end of the regular season just like in the Italian league. Real Madrid won their first ACB title, and their 23rd Spanish title after the decision of the Competition Committee, when FC Barcelona didn't appear in the third game of the finals in protest of what it considered an unfair decision by this body following a fight between players in the second game of the finals: Davis was sanctioned for six games due to attack Real Madrid player Iturriaga, who had previously elbowed him in a block. Liga ACB
The Liga ACB, known as Liga Endesa for sponsorship reasons, is the top professional basketball division of the Spanish basketball league system. Administrated by the Asociación de Clubs de Baloncesto (ACB), Liga ACB is contested by 18 teams, with the two lowest-placed teams relegated to the LEB Oro and replaced by the top team in that division plus the winner of the promotion playoffs. The competition was founded as the ACB Primera División on 1983 following the decision of clubs in the Liga Nacional, founded in 1957, to break away from the Spanish Basketball Federation and professionalize the league. The league's accumulated revenues were worth around €30 million in 2020, with Endesa and Movistar Plus+ contributing 50% of the revenues of the league. Michael Anthony Davis (born August 2, 1956) is an American former professional basketball player. Playing as a center, his career mostly took place in Italy and Spain, though he had a short stint in the National Basketball Association (NBA). College career Born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, Davis did not play high-school basketball, as he didn't make his school's team in 11th grade. However, after growing to 6-10, he took up the sport again. He moved to Shaw College, Detroit, in 1974, living in Dave Bing's house. As a sophomore, he played for Mercer County Community College, earning National Junior College Athletic Association All-American honours. Davis then moved to Maryland, playing in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) of the NCAA Division I, in 1976. Círcol Catòlic De Badalona
Círcol Catòlic de Badalona (in Spanish, ''Círculo Católico de Badalona'') is a basketball club based in Badalona, Spain. History The club was founded in 1941 and competed in the third division until 1958, when it promotes to Segunda División. Círcol played ten seasons in this league before being relegated again to Tercera in 1970. In two years, the team achieved the promotion to the Liga Nacional.
