Dragan Zdravković
Dragan Zdravković (born 16 December 1959, in Senjski Rudnik) is a Serbian former middle-distance runner. He represented Yugoslavia in international competition from the late 1970s to 1980s, and was a finalist at the 1980 Summer Olympics. Zdravković holds multiple outdoor and indoor Serbian records in athletics. Running career Zdravković initially practiced football as a youngster in Ćuprija, until a school teacher, Aleksandar "Aca" Petrović, suggested that he begin training athletics. Zdravković's youth coaches emphasized gymnastics as a complement to his running workouts. At the age of 21 he made his Olympic debut at the 1980 Summer Olympics. In the men's 1500 meters, he progressed through the qualifying heat and semi-final rounds, but finished last in the finals. Valeriy Aleksandrovich Abramov (22 August 1956, Yertsevo, Arkhangelsk Oblast, Russia – 14 September 2016, Moscow, Russia) was a long-distance runner from the Soviet Union. Honoured master of sports of USSR. He trained under the direction of Leonid Beliaev (Honoured coach of the USSR and Russia). Lubomír Tesáček (9 February 1957 – 29 June 2011) was a Czech long-distance runner. He won the gold medal in the 3000 metres at the 1984 European Indoor Championships. Ari Paunonen (born 10 March 1958) is a Finnish male former middle- and long-distance runner who competed over distances from 800 metres up to 10,000 metres. His best international performances at a major event were bronze at the 1977 European Cup and fifth at the 1983 European Athletics Indoor Championships. He was also the 1500 m silver medallist at the Nordic Indoor Athletics Championships in 1986. His personal best time of 3:55.65 minutes for the mile run is a Finnish record. He also set a European under-20 record of 7:43.20 minutes for the 3000 metres in 1977. Hagen Melzer (born 16 June 1959, in Bautzen) is a former East German middle and long-distance runner who specialised in the 3000 m steeplechase. He won the gold medal at the 1986 European Championships in Stuttgart. A year later he won the silver medal at the 1987 World Championships in Rome, where he set a national record at 8:10.32 minutes. This remained his career best time, and places him second on the German all-time performers list behind Damian Kallabis, who ran in 8:09.48 minutes in 1999. At the Olympic Games he finished tenth in 1988 and did not reach the final in 1992. Melzer won seven East German national titles, in 1980, 1983 and the years 1985–1989. Hans-Jürgen Orthmann (born 5 February 1954) is a German former long-distance runner who competed for West Germany. He made thirteen consecutive appearances at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships from 1975 to 1987. His highest honour was a silver medal in 1980. He was a seven-time national champion, taking three titles in cross country running, two in road running and two in track. His silver medal at the 1980 IAAF World Cross Country Championships made him only the second German to win an individual medal at the competition, after 1977 bronze medallist Detlef Uhlemann.
