1982 FIFUSA Futsal World Cup
The 1982 FIFUSA Futsal World Championship was the inaugural FIFUSA Futsal World Cup (now known as AMF Futsal World Cup). The tournament was held by Brazil from 30 May to 6 June in São Paulo. Ten national teams from four confederations (five from South America, three from Europe, one from Asia and one from North America) participated in the tournament. AMF Futsal World Cup
The AMF Futsal World Championships (previously called the FIFUSA Futsal World Championships) is the international championships for futsal, the indoor version of football organized by FIFUSA (1971–2002) and AMF (2003–present). The world championship tournament was held every three years until 2003, and is now played every four years. The first event was held in 1982 in Brazil. The South American teams have won most of the championships, with Colombia and Paraguay as the most successful teams with 3 titles each. Since 2008, a women's tournament is also held. As of 2017, only three tournaments have been played: the 2008 edition in Spain, the 2013 edition in Colombia and the 2017 edition held once again in Spain. Overtime or extra time is an additional period of play specified under the rules of a sport to bring a game to a decision and avoid declaring the match a tie or draw where the scores are the same. In some sports, this extra period is played only if the game is required to have a clear winner, as in single-elimination tournaments where only one team or players can advance to the next round or win the tournament. A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds.
