1982 Cork Senior Football Championship
The 1982 Cork Senior Football Championship was the 94th staging of the Cork Senior Football Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1887. The draw for the opening round fixtures took place on 31 January 1982. The championship began on 24 April 1982 and ended on 24 October 1982. Nemo Rangers entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were beaten by Duhallow at the quarter-final stage. On 24 October 1982, St. Finbarr's won the championship following a 3-08 to 1-09 defeat of University College Cork in the final. Bertie O'Brien
Bertie O'Brien (1951 – 2 March 2023) was an Irish hurler and Gaelic footballer. He played at club level with St. Finbarr's and was a dual player at various levels with Cork. Career O'Brien first played Gaelic football and hurling in the Lough Leagues, before later lining out as a schoolboy with Sullivan's Quay CBS. He had his first success at club level when he won a Cork MFC title with St. Finbarr's in 1968. O'Brien was still in his teens when he lined out with the intermediate team before making his senior debut as a dual player. O'Brien has his first senior successes as a hurler when St. Finbarr's claimed the Cork, Munster and All-Ireland titles during the 1974–75 season. Over the course of the following decade he enjoyed many more successes, including a second All-Ireland club hurling medal in 1978 and All-Ireland club football victories in 1980 and 1981. Páirc Uí Chaoimh ( ) is a Gaelic games stadium in Cork (city), Cork, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. It is the home of Cork GAA. Dunmanway
Dunmanway (, official Irish name: ) is a market town in County Cork, in the southwest of Ireland. It is the geographical centre of the region known as West Cork. It is the birthplace of Sam Maguire, an Irish Protestant republican, for whom the trophy of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship is named. There is disagreement over the meaning and origin of the town's name. Various sources list its meaning when translated from Irish as "the castle of the yellow river," "the castle on the little plain," "the fort of the gables (or pinnacles)," and "the fort of the yellow women." Bantry
Bantry () is a town in the civil parish of Kilmocomoge in the barony of Bantry on the southwest coast of County Cork, Ireland. It lies in West Cork at the head of Bantry Bay, a deep-water gulf extending for to the west. The Beara Peninsula is to the northwest, with Sheep's Head peninsula to the southwest. Beara GAA is a division of Cork GAA, and is responsible for organizing Gaelic Athletic Association games in the Beara Peninsula in County Cork, Ireland. It is one of eight divisions of Cork County Board. It organizes competitions for the clubs within the division, from Under 12 up to the adult level. The winners of these competitions compete against other divisional champions to determine which club is the county champion. Currently, the following clubs are part of the Beara division - Castletownbere, Adrigole, Urhan, Garnish, Bere Island and Glengarriff. It has no senior football team so the only representative in the Cork Senior Football Championship is the divisional team. Dohenys GAA
Dohenys is a Gaelic Athletic Association club, fielding Gaelic football and Hurling teams in the town of Dunmanway, County Cork, Ireland. It won its only Cork Senior Club Football Championship in 1897. Other titles won include 2 Cork Intermediate Football Championships in 1972 and 1995, and 3 Cork Junior Football Championships in 1935, 1966, and 1993.
