1981 Girabola
The 1981 Girabola was the third season of top-tier football competition in Angola. The season ran from 9 May 1981 to 7 February 1982. The league comprised 14 teams, the bottom three of which were relegated. Primeiro de Agosto were the defending champions and were crowned champions, winning their 3rd title, while Desportivo da Chela, FC do Uíge, Ferroviário da Huíla and Petro do Huambo were relegated. Joseph Maluka of Primeiro de Maio finished as the top scorer with 20 goals. Changes from the 1980 season Diabos Verdes were renamed as Leões de Luanda. Girabola
Girabola, or ''Campeonato Nacional de Futebol em Séniores Masculinos'', is the top division of Angolan football. It is organized by the Angolan Football Federation. The league winner and runner-up qualify for the CAF Champions League. Girabola ZAP In January 2016, Angolan subscription TV satellite and cable provider ZAP, the Angolan Football Federation and the Girabola clubs, signed a three-year deal in which ZAP will have broadcast rights over all Girabola matches. As part of the deal, the Angolan state-owned TV station TPA will be allowed to broadcast one game per week on its free-view platform. Also as part of the deal, the Girabola changes its denomination to Girabola ZAP. Progresso Associação Do Sambizanga
Progresso Associação do Sambizanga is an Angolan football club based in Luanda. The club was founded in 1975, as a result of a merger of three clubs: Juventude Unida do Bairro Alfredo (JUBA), Juventista and Vaza. Progresso do Sambizanga is notably the only club in Girabola to maintain a women's soccer team, even without official competition. They play their home games at the state-owned Estádio da Cidadela. Ndunguidi
Daniel Ndunguidi Gonçalves, better known as Daniel Ndunguidi or simply Ndunguidi, (born 1956) is a former Angolan football player. Ndunguidi, whose career peaked in the 1980s while playing for Primeiro de Agosto as a forward, is widely considered Angola's most prominent football player, following independence. His fame and talent is only matched by that of Petro Atlético's José Saturnino de Oliveira aka "Jesus". In 1979, an attempt by Sporting Clube de Portugal to sign him was barred for political reasons as was another attempt by Benfica de Portugal in 1990. On November 30th 1991, a farewell match was played between Primeiro de Agosto and Petro de Luanda, in honour of Ndunguidi and ''Jesus" Saturnino. Joaquim Dinis
Joaquim António Dinis (born 1 December 1947, Luanda) is a former Angolan-Portuguese footballer. He played for Sporting, FC Porto and União Leiria in the Portuguese Liga, as forward. He is a brother of Angolan basketball coach Carlos Dinis. Dinis gained 14 caps and scored 5 goals for the Portugal national team. He did a great partnership with Eusébio at the Brazil Independence Cup in 1972, scoring all the 5 international goals of his career at the competition. Rosso is the major city of south-western Mauritania and capital of Trarza region. It is situated on the Senegal River at the head of the river zone allowing year-round navigation. Jesús (footballer)
Osvaldo Fernando Saturnino de Oliveira (born 14 January 1956), commonly known as Jesús, is an Angolan former football player and coach who played as a striker. He mainly played for Petro de Luanda and the Angola national team, having also moved to Portugal at Varzim and Oliveirense. Club career Jesús played youth football for Clube Atlético de Luanda; he then began playing professionally in 1974 for local club Luanda, before moving to Benfica de Luanda and Terra Nova. Jesús played over 10 years for Petro de Luanda. He was top goalscorer of the Girabola three times with them, in 1982, 1984 and 1985. In 1988, he moved to Portugal to play for Varzim aged 32, with whom he played two seasons. Jesús then played one season for Oliveirense, retiring in 1990. Sporting Clube de Benguela or simply Sporting de Benguela, is an Angolan sports club from the city of Benguela. History The club was founded in 1915, as the 21st affiliate of Sporting Clube de Portugal. Clube Nacional De Benguela
Clube Nacional de Benguela, founded on June 24, 1920, as Sports Clube Portugal de Benguela or simply Portugal de Benguela, is a sports club from Benguela, Angola. The Elephants won five titles during the then overseas province of Angola. Even before Angola's independence in 1975, the club's name was changed to Sports Club Nacional de Benguela. Académica Petróleos do Lobito, usually known as Académica Lobito, are a football (soccer) club from Lobito, Angola. The club was founded in 1970 as Académica da Chilimba by Mr. Geraldo Guiado and a few associates. Sporting Clube de Luanda best known as Sporting de Luanda, is an Angolan multisports club based in Luanda. The club's football team, while being one of the most ancient and traditional clubs in Luanda, has been out of major competition due to financial reasons. The team was founded in 1920.
