1981 Girabola
The 1981 Girabola was the third season of top-tier football competition in Angola. The season ran from 9 May 1981 to 7 February 1982. The league comprised 14 teams, the bottom three of which were relegated. Primeiro de Agosto were the defending champions and were crowned champions, winning their 3rd title, while Desportivo da Chela, FC do Uíge, Ferroviário da Huíla and Petro do Huambo were relegated. Joseph Maluka of Primeiro de Maio finished as the top scorer with 20 goals. Changes from the 1980 season Diabos Verdes were renamed as Leões de Luanda. Girabola
Girabola, or ''Campeonato Nacional de Futebol em Séniores Masculinos'', is the top division of Angolan football. It is organized by the Angolan Football Federation. The league winner and runner-up qualify for the CAF Champions League. Girabola ZAP In January 2016, Angolan subscription TV satellite and cable provider ZAP, the Angolan Football Federation and the Girabola clubs, signed a three-year deal in which ZAP will have broadcast rights over all Girabola matches. As part of the deal, the Angolan state-owned TV station TPA will be allowed to broadcast one game per week on its free-view platform. Also as part of the deal, the Girabola changes its denomination to Girabola ZAP. Progresso Associação Do Sambizanga
Progresso Associação do Sambizanga is an Angolan football club based in Luanda. The club was founded in 1975, as a result of a merger of three clubs: Juventude Unida do Bairro Alfredo (JUBA), Juventista and Vaza. Progresso do Sambizanga is notably the only club in Girabola to maintain a women's soccer team, even without official competition. They play their home games at the state-owned Estádio da Cidadela. History The club made its debut in the Girabola in 1981 and won their only cup title in 1996 after defeating Primeiro de Agosto and qualified into the 1997 CAF Winners' Cup where they challenged with Gabon's FC 105 Libreville and won a goal in the first leg and lost 2–0 in the last, this was their only appearance in the continental competition.
