Istora Gelora Bung Karno
Gelora Bung Karno Sports Palace ( id, Istana Olahraga Gelora Bung Karno, abbreviated as ''Istora''), the formerly name ''Istora Senayan'' is an indoor sporting arena located in Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex, Jakarta, Indonesia. The capacity of the arena after 2018 reopening is 7,166. This arena is usually used for badminton tournaments. Its maiden event was the 1961 Thomas Cup. It was also used during the 1962 Asian Games and was renovated to host the 2018 edition. Its first post-renovation event was the 2018 Indonesia Masters. During the latter Games, it hosted the badminton and later stages of basketball events. The arena originally was planned to stage the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup and becoming the only Indonesian venue in the three-country joint bid but was moved to a newly-built arena inside the complex. Datuk Jalani Sidek (born 12 November 1964) is a former badminton player from Malaysia and coach. Personal life He is the third eldest of the five Sidek brothers. Jalani and his siblings gained exposure about badminton sport from their father, Haji Mohd Sidek. Under the guidance of his father, Jalani and the rest of his siblings were trained to be champions. Steen Skovgaard is a retired male badminton player from Denmark who specialized in the doubles events and won national and international titles in both men's doubles and mixed doubles from the mid-1970s through the early 1980s. Flemming Delfs (born September 7, 1951) is a former Danish badminton player who was world no. 1 in 1977. He won the All England Championship, the European and the World Championship in the 1970s. Career Delfs is especially noteworthy for winning men's singles at the first IBF World Championships held in Malmö, Sweden in 1977. He dominated that same 1976/1977 season by winning nearly all other noteworthy tournaments, including the All-England Championships. Hariamanto Kartono (; born 1954) is a retired male Chinese Indonesian badminton player. Career Partnered first with Rudy Heryanto and later with singles star Liem Swie King, Kartono was one of the world's leading doubles players in the early and mid-1980s. As upstarts, he and Heryanto took silver medals at the 1980 IBF World Championships in Jakarta, losing the final to veteran fellow countrymen Ade Chandra and Christian Hadinata. Christian Hadinata (, born 11 December 1949) is a former Chinese Indonesian badminton player. Profile Though early in his career he was a fine singles player who reached the final of the prestigious All-England Championship in 1973, Christian's success in doubles earned him recognition as one of the great doubles players in badminton history.
