1979–80 Bayernliga
The 1979–80 season of the Bayernliga, the third tier of the German football league system in the state of Bavaria at the time, was the 35th season of the league. Overview The league champions FC Augsburg, winning their second Bayernliga title after 1972–73, were promoted to the 2. Bundesliga Süd and also qualified for the German amateur championship, where the club lost 2–1 in the final to VfB Stuttgart Amateure. The bottom four clubs were directly relegated, 1979–80 being the last season before the introduction of the relegation/promotion play-off. Of the four clubs VfR Neuburg would never return to the Bayernliga again while FC Vilshofen made a direct return the following season. Bayernliga
The Bayernliga (English: Bavarian league) is the highest amateur football league and the second highest football league (under the Regionalliga Bayern) in the state of Bavaria (german: Bayern) and the Bavarian football league system. It is one of fourteen Oberligas in German football, the fifth tier of the German football league system. Until the introduction of the 3. Liga in 2008 it was the fourth tier of the league system, until the introduction of the Regionalligas in 1994 the third tier. From the 2012–13 season onwards, the league has been divided once more into a northern and a southern division, having previously placed in single division format since 1963. The league sits directly under the Regionalliga Bayern and above the Landesligas, which were expanded in number from three to five at the end of the 2011–12 season. Regionalliga Süd (1963–1974)
The Regionalliga Süd was the second-highest level of the German football league system. It existed in the south of West Germany from 1963 until the formation of the 2. Bundesliga in 1974. It covered the three states of Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and Hesse. Overview The league started out in 1963 with 20 clubs which were reduced for the next season to 19. From 1965 to 1974, there were always 18 teams in the league, except in 1972 when another season of 19 clubs was played. It was formed from the eleven clubs of the Oberliga Süd which did not get admitted to the new Bundesliga and from the top nine clubs of the 2. Oberliga Süd. Kickers is a youth brand created in 1970 in France that produces a wide range of footwear and clothing. Kickers was bought in 2007 by the Royer group. TSV 1860 Rosenheim is a German association sport club from the town of Rosenheim, Bavaria. The origins of the club are in the establishment of the gymnastics club and community fire brigade ''Freiwillige Turnerfeuerwehr Rosenheim'' on 20 October 1860. TSV Trebgast is a German association football club from the town of Trebgast, Bavaria. History The club was established 1 July 1920 as the gymnastics club ''Turnverein Trebgast'' which quickly formed football, fistball and handball departments. Following World War II, ''TV'' joined two other local clubs to form ''ASV Trebgast'' before the club adopted their current name in 1950. The footballers enjoyed their best seasons in the late 1970s when they played in the Amateurliga and Amateuroberliga Bayern following the capture of a title in the Landesliga Bayern-Nord in 1977. Their best result there came as a 7th-place finish in 1978, before they slipped to 15th place in 1981 and were relegated. By 1991, the club dropped out of the Landesliga altogether. FC Bayern Munich II (''FC Bayern Munich Amateure'' until 2005) are the reserve team of German association football club FC Bayern Munich, they currently play in the Regionalliga Bayern.
