1979 Wolverhampton Council Election

	1979 Wolverhampton Council Election Elections in 1979 were held on Thursday 5 May. Following the elections the Labour Party had overall control of Wolverhampton Metropolitan Borough Council. The Wolverhampton Association of Ratepayers became known simply as Ratepayers in the 1979 local elections. The population size has increased by 5.7%, from around 249,500 in 2011 to 263,700 in 2021. People from the city are called "Wulfrunians".
