New Town Eagles SC
New Town Eagles Soccer Club is a football (soccer) club which represents New Town in the Tasmanian Southern Championship. The club also fields teams in all junior divisions. New Town Eagles play their home games at Clare Street, in New Town. The club began life as White Eagle, who proudly represented the Polish migrant community in Tasmania. Many Poles came to Tasmania immediately after World War II to seek a new life and better conditions following the devastation of the war. Many Poles who came to Tasmania found good jobs on the dangerous but well paid giant dam-building schemes of the then "Hydro-Electric Commission" (now Hydro Tasmania). These new migrants brought many of their traditions with them from home, one of which of course was football. Maccabi Hakoah Sydney City East FC, commonly known as Maccabi Hakoah, is an Australian semi-professional soccer club based in Sydney, New South Wales. The club was formed in 1939 as Sydney Hakoah by members of Sydney's Jewish community. They played between 1977 and 1986 in the National Soccer League as Eastern Suburbs (1977–1979) and Sydney City (1979–1987). One of the most successful sides in New South Wales and interstate competitions in the 1960s and early 1970s coached by the now retired Bob Szatmari, Hakoah were also one of the main instigators for the establishment of a national league. St George-Souths was an Australian football (soccer) club formed in 1950 as the Hellenic Soccer Club by Brisbane's Greek community. It was a powerhouse of Brisbane soccer in the 1960s and 1970s. The club merged in 1982 with Olympic FC and were initially known as Olympic United. History 1950s Hellenic Soccer Club was established in early 1950 by Brisbane's Greek community and first competed in the 1950 season of Brisbane soccer, entering two teams which were placed in Divisions 4 and 5. Its first ever premiership match was in April 1950, a 6–3 loss to the Ipswich club Wattles SC in the opening round of Division 4 matches. Southside Eagles FC is an Australian football (soccer) club from Bulimba, a suburb of Brisbane. The club was founded when the Germania and Southside Belmont clubs merged in 1968 and it currently competes in Football Queensland Premier League.
