1977 World Cup (men's Golf)
The 1977 World Cup took place December 8–11 at the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club in Manila, Philippines. It was the 25th World Cup event. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 50 teams. The Mexico team of Ernesto Perez Acosta and Victor Regalado did not arrive on time to start and were replaced by a Filipino amateur team of Tommy Manotoc and Emilio Tuazon. Each team consisted of two players from a country. The combined score of each team determined the team results. The Spanish team of Seve Ballesteros and Antonio Garrido successfully defended the title Spain won in 1976 and won by two strokes over the Philippines team of Ben Arda and Rudy Lavares. Mandaluyong, officially the City of Mandaluyong ( fil, Lungsod ng Mandaluyong), is a first class highly urbanized city in the National Capital Region of the Philippines. Philippe Toussaint
Philippe Toussaint (born 30 June 1949) was one of Belgium's most successful golfers. Toussaint was born in Brussels. As an amateur he won the Italian Amateur Championship, was runner up in the Belgian Amateur Championship, and twice represented Belgium in the Eisenhower Trophy. He turned professional in 1971 and joined the European Tour. He won one tournament during his time on the tour, at the 1974 Benson & Hedges Festival, when he edged out Bob Shearer in a sudden death playoff. Michael Eaton MBE (born 1954) is an English playwright and scriptwriter. He is best known for his television docudrama scripts, including '' Shipman'', ''Why Lockerbie'', and '' Shoot to Kill'', and for writing the feature film ''Fellow Traveller'' (1989), which won best screenplay in the British Film Awards. David Good (golfer)
David James Good (born 18 December 1947) is a retired professional golfer from Australia. He had some success in the 1970s but is most noted for his record as a senior player. From 2000 he played regularly on the European Senior Tour, where he won twice and had nearly 50 top-10 finishes. Professional career Good turned professional after the 1969 Australian Amateur at Royal Adelaide. He was the medalist after rounds of 71 and 70 but lost in the quarter-finals. Good travelled to Europe in 1973. He had limited success but qualified for the Open Championship at Troon and finished tied for 18th place. Later in the year, he came close to his first important win in the 1973 Garden City Classic in Christchurch, New Zealand. Mike Cahill (golfer)
Michael F. Cahill (born 10 December 1951) is an Australian professional golfer. In 1971, Cahill had one of the best years in the history of Victorian amateur golf, becoming the first player to win the Victorian Junior Amateur and Victorian Senior Amateur in the same year. Shortly thereafter, Cahill turned pro and quickly had success, winning the 1977 Australian PGA Championship. In the ensuing years, however, citing personal problems and "poor practice habits," Cahill's game declined. In 1980, however, Cahill renewed his relationship with former mentor Kevin Hartley and his game improved, culminating with a three wins in Western Australia in May 1982.
