1977 CFL Season
The 1977 CFL season is considered to be the 24th season in modern-day Canadian football, although it is officially the 20th Canadian Football League season. CFL News in 1977 The 65th Grey Cup game, nicknamed "The Ice Bowl", was held in Olympic Stadium in Montreal. The game itself set an attendance record with 68,318, which in turn set a record for ticket revenue of $1,401,930. The Montreal Alouettes also set an CFL regular-season team attendance record with 69,093 attending the September 6 game against the Toronto Argonauts at Olympic Stadium. Montreal Alouettes
The Montreal Alouettes (Canadian French, French: Les Alouettes de Montréal) are a professional Canadian football team based in Montreal, Quebec. Founded in 1946, the team has folded and been revived twice. The Alouettes compete in the Canadian Football League East Division, East Division of the Canadian Football League (CFL) and last won the Grey Cup championship in 98th Grey Cup, 2010. Their home field is Percival Molson Memorial Stadium for the regular season and as of 2014 also home of their playoff games. The original Alouettes team (1946 Montreal Alouettes season, 1946–1981 Montreal Alouettes season, 1981) won four Grey Cups and were particularly dominant in the 1970s. Toronto Argonauts

Jimmy Edwards (gridiron Football)
Jimmy Edwards (September 19, 1952–July 3, 2002) was a running back for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League. Early life Edwards was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and graduated from Classen High School in Oklahoma City. He married Elaine June Sheets. He played college football at the University of Oklahoma and the University of Louisiana at Monroe. He was selected by the Associated Press as a first-team running back on the 1972 Little All-America college football team. Professional career He began his professional career in the WFL in 1974 with the Birmingham Americans. He rushed for 575 yards on 99 carries and scored 7 TDs, while also catching 11 passes and returning kickoffs. Jerry Tagge
Jerry Lee Tagge (born April 12, 1950) is a former American football player. He played college football as quarterback at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where he led the Nebraska Cornhuskers to consecutive national championships in 1970 and 1971. Tagge played professionally with the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League (NFL) from 1972 to 1974, the San Antonio Wings of the World Football League (WFL) in 1975, and the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League (CFL) from 1977 to 1979. Early life Tagge was born at Offutt Air Force Base south of Omaha, Nebraska, the third child and second son of William Robert (Billy) Tagge and Lois Jurczyk Tagge. Grey Cup's Most Valuable Canadian
The Dick Suderman Trophy (french: Trophée Dick Suderman) for the Grey Cup's Most Valuable Canadian (''Le Canadien le plus précieux de la Coupe Grey'') is awarded annually to the Canadian player deemed to have the best performance in the Grey Cup game, the championship of the Canadian Football League. This award is presented before the Grey Cup trophy is presented. The winner does not necessarily have to play for the Grey Cup winning team in order to qualify. The award was introduced at the 1971 Grey Cup, and the first winner was Dick Suderman, a Canadian defensive end. A year later, just six weeks before the playing of the 1972 Grey Cup, Suderman collapsed and died from a brain hemorrhage after playing a regular season game; the trophy was subsequently renamed in his honour. Don Sweet
Don Sweet (born July 13, 1948) is a former star football kicker for the Montreal Alouettes and Montreal Concordes of the Canadian Football League. College years Sweet graduated from Washington State University in 1971. He was a Pacific-10 Conference all star kicker in 1971. Perhaps his greatest moment happened when WSU upset defending conference champions Stanford 24 to 23 in 1971. His 27-yard game-winning field goal was scored with no time left on the game clock. Sweet had never played football before he tried out for his university team. Professional career In 1972, he began a successful 13-year career with Montreal, the second longest in team history. He played with the Alouettes until 1981 and with the Concordes three more years. He played 185 regular season games, scoring a team record 1,342 points, including 312 field goals and 325 converts. Glen Weir
Glen Weir (born July 23, 1951) was a star defensive lineman for the Montreal Alouettes/Montreal Concordes in the Canadian Football League. Weir was born in London, Ontario, and played his amateur football with the London Lords intermediate league team. He had a 13-year career with the Alouettes from 1972 through 1982 and the Montreal Concordes from 1983 to 1984. He held the Alouettes' franchise record for most games with 203 until he was surpassed by Bryan Chiu in 2009. He played in five Grey Cup games, winning two, in 1974 and 1977. He was the Grey Cup Most Valuable Player (defensive) in 1977. He was also a five time all star. He was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 2009. Grey Cup's Most Valuable Player
The Grey Cup's Most Valuable Player (MVP) award is awarded annually since 1959 to the player of the winning team who deemed to have had the best performance in the Grey Cup Game, the Canadian Football League's championship game. This award is presented before the Grey Cup trophy is presented. Canadians are eligible for the award but have seldom hoisted it due to American players' dominance in the league.
