1976–77 AHL Season
The 1976–77 AHL season was the 41st season of the American Hockey League. The league lost two teams, and divisions were dissolved. Six teams played 80 games each in the schedule. The F. G. "Teddy" Oke Trophy is awarded is for first place in the regular season, and the John D. Chick Trophy is not awarded. The Nova Scotia Voyageurs repeated as first overall in the regular season, and won their third Calder Cup championship. American Hockey League
The American Hockey League (AHL) is a professional ice hockey league based in the United States and Canada that serves as the primary Minor league#Ice hockey, developmental league for the National Hockey League (NHL). Since the 2010–11 AHL season, 2010–11 season, every team in the league has an affiliation agreement with one NHL team. When NHL teams do not have an AHL affiliate, players are assigned to AHL teams affiliated with other NHL teams. Twenty-six AHL teams are located in the United States and the remaining six are in Canada. The league offices are located in Springfield, Massachusetts, and its current president is Scott Howson. In general, a player must be at least 18 years of age to play in the AHL or not currently be beholden to a junior ice hockey team. Brian Engblom
Brian Paul Engblom (born January 27, 1955) is a Canadian ice hockey broadcaster for the Tampa Bay Lightning, and a former professional hockey defenseman. Biography Engblom was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and played for the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He was drafted 22nd overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 1975 NHL Entry Draft. He played his first two professional seasons with Montreal's AHL affiliate Nova Scotia Voyageurs before playing in his first NHL game in the 1977 Stanley Cup playoffs with Montreal. He won two Stanley Cups, in 1978, and 1979 with the Canadiens. Engblom's name was left off the Cup in 1977 because he played no regular season games. He played in two playoff games and did not play in the finals. John Bryn Williams (born 1977), known as John B, is an English disc jockey and electronic music producer. Pierre Mondou
Joseph Julien Claude Pierre Mondou (born November 27, 1955) is a former Canadians, Canadian ice hockey forward (ice hockey), forward. Mondou played in the National Hockey League from 1976–77 NHL season, 1977 to 1984–85 NHL season, 1985. During this time, he played for the Montreal Canadiens his entire career. He won three Stanley Cups while with the Habs in 1977 Stanley Cup Finals, 1977, 1978 Stanley Cup Finals, 1978 and 1979 Stanley Cup Finals, 1979. He passed the 30-goal mark three times, and scored 29 goals one other season. His career ended shortly after he was hit in the eye by a high stick from Ulf Samuelsson. Blake Dunlop
Blake Robert Dunlop (born April 18, 1953) is a Canadian former National Hockey League (NHL) forward who played during the 1970s and early 1980s. Prior to turning pro, Dunlop played four seasons with the Ottawa 67's of the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA). Dunlop was drafted by the Minnesota North Stars in the second round, 18th overall, of the 1973 NHL Amateur Draft. Playing career For his first four professional seasons, Dunlop spent much of his time with the New Haven Nighthawks, the North Stars' affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). He was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers, and then to the St. Louis Blues, where he experienced his most successful years. Dunlop went on to receive the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy in 1981 with the Blues. He retired from the NHL after spending the 1983–84 season with the Detroit Red Wings. Tom Colley
Thomas Lewis Colley (August 21, 1953 – November 17, 2021) was a Canadian professional ice hockey centre. He played one game in the National Hockey League, with the Minnesota North Stars on March 12, 1975. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1973 to 1986, was spent in the minor leagues. Colley's son, Kevin, also played in the NHL. Playing career As a youth, Colley played in the 1966 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with the Toronto Weston minor ice hockey team. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Colley played junior hockey for the Niagara Falls Flyers and the Sudbury Wolves, scoring 117 points including 81 assists. Colley was drafted 57th overall by the Minnesota North Stars in the 1973 NHL Amateur Draft and 38th overall by the New England Whalers in the 1973 WHA Amateur Draft.
