1976 Little League World Series
The Little League World Series took place between August 24 and August 28 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The Chofu Little League of Tokyo, Japan, defeated the Campbell Little League of Campbell, California, in the championship game of the 30th Little League World Series. This was the first LLWS to place the International and U.S. teams on different sides of the Bracket (tournament), bracket. Europe In The Little League World Series
Europe first participated in the Little League World Series in . Teams from Europe were given a berth in the LLWS each year between 1960 and 2000 (with the exception of the temporary ban of international teams in ). In 2001, the region was split into two co-terminus regions: Europe (later EMEA) Region and Transatlantic Region. The Europe Region comprised mostly native European teams while the Transatlantic Region comprised mostly American expatriates. This distinction was eliminated in 2008; from 2008 to 2012, teams made up of either native Europeans or American expatriates were eligible to qualify from the Europe Region. The Latin America Region has competed in the Little League World Series since its creation in 1958.In 1957, the Industrial Little League of Monterrey, Mexico, was the first team from outside the U.S. and Canada to compete in the LLWS. It competed in an area tournament in McAllen, Texas, won the South Region tournament, and defeated the West Region in the championship game. Japan first participated in the Little League World Series in 1962. Between 1962 and 2000, Japan participated in the Far East Region of the LLWS. The South Region was a region that competed in the Little League World Series between 1957 and 2000 until it was split into the Southwest and Southeast regions in 2001. The South Region was inaugurated in 1957. The Region originally consisted of teams from Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.
