	1974–75 Liga Alef The 1974–75 Liga Alef season saw Maccabi Haifa (champions of the North Division) and Maccabi Ramat Amidar (champions of the South Division) promoted to Liga Leumit. Although two clubs in each regional division were due to be relegated, they were eventually reprieved after the Israel Football Association decided to expand Liga Leumit to 18 clubs, and Liga Alef to 17 clubs in each division for the following season. 	Liga Alef Liga Alef ( he, ליגה א', , League A) is the third tier of the Israeli football league system. It is divided into two regional divisions, north and south. History League football began in Israel in 1949–50, a year after the Israeli Declaration of Independence. However, the financial and security crises gripping the young nation caused the 1950–51 season to be abandoned before it had started. When football resumed in 1951–52, the new top division went by the name of Liga Alef. The 1952–53 season was also not played, and Liga Alef resumed in 1953–54. 	1975–76 Liga Leumit The 1975–76 Liga Leumit season saw Hapoel Be'er Sheva win their second consecutive title. It was the only season to date in which the league had 18 clubs. Four clubs, Hapoel Petah Tikva, Hapoel Hadera, Bnei Yehuda and Maccabi Ramat Amidar (in their first season in the top division) were relegated as the league was reduced to 16 clubs the following season.
