Star World Championships
The Star World Championship are international sailing (sport), sailing regattas in the Star (sailboat), Star class organized by the International Star Class Yacht Racing Association sanctioned by International Sailing Federation. American sailor Lowell North has won the most titles, with five titles between 1945 and 1973 and another seven podiums. Brazilian crew Bruno Prada won also five titles between 2007 and 2019. The most crowned skipper-crew combinations are Italian duo Agostino Straulino and Nicolò Rode and Brazilian duo Robert Scheidt and Bruno Prada, with three titles each. Bill Buchan, Jr. has three titles, but with different crew. American sailors have won the most championships, 55 editions, followed by Brazilian sailors, with seven titles, and sailors of Italy with six titles and Germany with five. Laredo, Cantabria
Laredo () is a town in the autonomous community of Cantabria. According to the 2008 census (INE), the municipality has a population of 12,648 inhabitants. In addition to Laredo, the municipality includes the villages of La Arenosa, El Callejo, Las Cárcobas, Las Casillas, La Pesquera, Tarrueza and Villante. Except from the last two, the other villages had been physically integrated into Laredo. Located between the cities of Santander and Bilbao, Laredo is known in the region and nationally for "''La Salvé''", its 5 km long beach (7 km at high tide) and for the historic part of town dating back to Roman times. Sir Durward Randolph Knowles (2 November 1917 – 24 February 2018) was a sailor and Olympic champion from the Bahamas. He won the gold medal in the Star class at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, together with Cecil Cooke."Olympic Games Medallists – Sailing"

Sune Carlsson
Sune Evert Carlsson (21 December 1931 – 2 July 2024) was a Swedish Olympic sailor in the Star class and boatbuilder. He competed in the 1960 Summer Olympics, where he finished 10th in the Star class together with Per-Olof Carlsson and won a silver medal at the 1977 Star World Championships together with Leif Carlsson. Biography Carlsson was born in Stockholm on 21 December 1931. When he grew up, he sailed with model boats on Bällstaån and started to build his own boats at the age of 13. In 1950, he won his first of several Star Swedish Championships, 1954 he won it as helmsman, and in 1956 he qualified for the Star event at the 1956 Summer Olympics together with Olle Carlsson, but was rejected by the Swedish Olympic Committee due to their young age. He was selected for the Star event at the 1960 Summer Olympics, where he finished 10th together with Per-Olof Carlsson.
