1976 Men's Softball World Championship
The 1976 ISF Men's World Championship was an international softball tournament. The tournament was held at the Hutt Recreation Ground in Lower Hutt, New Zealand. It was the fourth time the World Championship took place and the first time New Zealand was to host the tournament. Seven nations competed, including defending champions Canada. The tournament was controversial due to the participation of Apartheid era South Africa. Prior to its start, an opponent to South Africa's involvement, planted an incendiary bomb in the middle of the ground's softball diamond which exploded and damaged a 10 metre radius. Several Lower Hutt City Council members, led by councillor John Seddon, unsuccessfully tried to block the South African team playing in the tournament. Both the Philippines and Mexico boycotted in protest of South Africa competing in the tournament which led the International Softball Federation (ISF) to suspend both countries membership for refusing to compete. ISF Men's World Championship
The Men's Softball World Cup, known through 2015 as the ISF Men's World Championship, is a softball tournament for the best national men's teams in the world. From 1966 to 2013 it was held every four years, first by the International Softball Federation (ISF) and from 2019 an onward it is held every two years by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), the 16 best teams in the world compete. Softball
Softball is a game similar to baseball played with a larger ball on a smaller field. Softball is played competitively at club levels, the college level, and the professional level. The game was first created in 1887 in Chicago by George Hancock. There are two rule sets for softball generally: ''slow pitch softball'' and ''fastpitch''. Marikina Sports Complex
The Marikina Sports Center, also known as Marikina Sports Park and formerly known as Rodriguez Sports Center, is a sports complex located in Marikina, at the corner of Shoe Avenue and Sumulong Highway in Metro Manila, Philippines. History Prior to its current sports facilities, the area is a site of PNR Mariquina Station back in the early 1900s. The Rodriguez Sports Center was built in 1969 under the Rizal Governor Isidro Rodriguez Sr. on a land owned by Marikina, then a municipality of Rizal. United States Men's National Softball Team
United States men's national softball team is the national team for the United States. The 1988 World Championships were held in Saskatoon, Canada. The team played 13 games in the round robin round. The United States beat Australia 21–1 in one game in this round. The team competed at the 1992 ISF Men's World Championship in Manila, Philippines where they finished with 10 wins and 3 losses. The team competed at the 1996 ISF Men's World Championship in Midland, Michigan where they finished with 10 wins and 4 losses.
