The 1970 King's Cup finals were held from November 8 to November 20, 1970, in Bangkok. This was the third edition of the international football competition. Korea Republic National Football Team
The South Korea national football team (; recognized as Korea Republic by FIFA) represents South Korea in men's international football and is governed by the Korea Football Association. South Korea has emerged as a major football power in Asia since the 1980s, having participated in ten consecutive and eleven overall FIFA World Cup tournaments, the most for any Asian country. Soetjipto Soentoro (16 June 1941 – 12 November 1994), commonly known as "Gareng", was an Indonesian footballer who captained Indonesia's national team. Biography Born in Bandung, Jawa Barat, he was raised in a family of football enthusiasts - his brothers were Soegijo and Soegito, who played for Persija Jakarta between 1952 and 1964. Soetjipto played football as a teenager in the streets in the area of Kebayoran Baru, Jakarta in 1954. He came to the attention of Djamiat Dalhar when playing for Setia Jakarta (a Persija youth team) who subsequently called Soetjipto up to the national junior team. At 16 years old, Soentoro joined Persija where he was given his nickname "Gareng", after a diminutive character in Indonesia's Wayang, due his short stature. Shukor Salleh
Dato' Abdul Shukor bin Salleh (born 4 December 1948) was a key midfield player for the Malaysia national football team during the 1970s. He was often called the "Mr.Cool" and "Malaysia Ardiles" of the Malaysian national team for the way he steered the Malaysian midfield with calm and composed way. He won the Malaysian National Sportsman Award in 1977 for his contribution to the national team. Furthermore, he was the second and the last football player after Mokhtar Dahari to be given that award. He was inducted into the FIFA Century Club in May 2021. Ali Bakar
Ali Bakar (18 November 1947 – 9 August 2003) was a football player who represented the Malaysian national football team from 1970 until 1976. He played for Penang FA in Malaysia's domestic competition. Career overview A midfielder, Ali was a squad player for the Malaysia team in the 1972 Munich Olympics football competition, and also represented Malaysia when it finished third in the 1974 Asian Games in Iran. Also in 1974, he was part of the Malaysia Cup-winning Penang side. After two years, he also helped Penang side to win the international tournament, Aga Khan Gold Cup held in Dhaka. Ali suffered a heart attack and died on the field while playing in a charity football match in Singapore in 2003. His body was buried in Penang.
