K-196 (Kansas Highway)
K-196 is a east–west state highway in Harvey and Butler Counties in the U.S. state of Kansas. K-196's western terminus is at Interstate 135 (I-135), U.S. Route 81 (US-81) and K-15 just south of Newton and the eastern terminus is at K-254 just east of El Dorado, Kansas. The highway runs along the south border the town of Whitewater and bypasses Potwin to the south. K-196 was first established as a state highway on March 29, 1937, and at that time ran from US-81 and K-15 south of Newton to US-54 and US-77 in El Dorado. Then between 1957 and 1968, K-254 was extended along K-196 through El Dorato to US-54 and US-77. The overlap with K-254 was removed on May 6, 1994, and K-196 was truncated to end at K-254 west of El Dorado. USS ''Minidoka'' (AK-196) was an that was constructed for the US Navy during the closing period of World War II. She was declared excess-to-needs and returned to the US Maritime Commission. Construction ''Minidoka'', a C1-M-AV1 type cargo ship, was laid down under Maritime Commission contract, MC hull 2127, by Walter Butler Shipbuilding Co., Inc., Superior, Wisconsin, 26 August 1944; launched 13 January 1945; sponsored by Mrs. R. N. Elder; and completed 5 May 1945. While under conversion for Navy use at the Superior yard of Walter Butler, her conversion was canceled 25 August 1945. Merchant service Subsequently, she was returned to the Maritime Commission, renamed ''Coastal Herald'', and operated for the Maritime Commission by Waterman Steamship Corporation and then the United Fruit Company until 1948. USS Mahopac (ATA-196) was a U.S. Navy auxiliary fleet tug laid down on 24 November 1944 and launched 21 December 1944. She served briefly in the Pacific Theater at the end of World War II, followed by extended assignments in Alaska and Japan. Between 1965 and 1969 she made periodic tours off the coast of Vietnam in support of 7th Fleet operations there during the Vietnam War. ''Mahopac'' was sold to Taiwan in 1976 under the Security Assistance Program (SAP). She was expended as missile target in 1993. USS ''Rinehart'' (DE-196) was a built for the United States Navy during World War II. She served in the Atlantic Ocean and Pacific Ocean and provided escort service against submarine and air attack for Navy vessels and convoys. The ship entered the reserves after the end of the war, and in 1950 was transferred to the Royal Netherlands Navy, where she served under the name ''De Bitter'' until 1967. USA-196, also known as GPS IIR-17(M), GPS IIRM-4 and GPS SVN-55, is an American navigation satellite which forms part of the Global Positioning System. It was the fourth of eight Block IIRM satellites to be launched, and the seventeenth of twenty one Block IIR satellites overall. It was built by Lockheed Martin, using the AS-4000 satellite bus. Scrivener labelled it by 204evl. Description The codex contains lessons from the Gospels of John, Matthew, Luke lectionary (''Evangelistarium''), on 155 paper leaves (). The text is written in Greek minuscule letters, in one column per page, 26 lines per page. There are daily lessons from Easter to Pentecost. History Scrivener and Gregory dated the manuscript to the 15th century. Today it is dated by the INTF to the 15th century. Nicolaus, a presbyter, wrote his name and date 1626 on leaf 1. The manuscript was found in disorder. It was added to the list of New Testament manuscripts by Scrivener (number 204). Gregory saw it in 1883. Kosmos 196 (russian: Космос 196 meaning ''Cosmos 196''), also known as DS-U1-G No.2, was a Soviet satellite which was launched in 1967 as part of the Dnepropetrovsk Sputnik programme. It was a spacecraft, which was built by the Yuzhnoye Design Office, and was used to study the effects of solar activity on the upper atmosphere. A Kosmos-2I 63S1 carrier rocket was used to launch Kosmos 196 into low Earth orbit. The launch took place from Site 86/1 at Kapustin Yar. The launch occurred at 06:30:07 GMT on 19 December 1967, and resulted in the successfully insertion of the satellite into low Earth orbit. Upon reaching orbit, the satellite was assigned its Kosmos designation, and received the International Designator 1967-125A.
