Frederick IX Of Denmark
Frederick IX ( da, Christian Frederik Franz Michael Carl Valdemar Georg; 11 March 1899 – 14 January 1972) was List of Danish monarchs, King of Denmark from 1947 to 1972. Born into the House of Glücksburg, Frederick was the elder son of Christian X of Denmark, King Christian X and Alexandrine of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Queen Alexandrine of Denmark. He became crown prince when his father succeeded as king in 1912. As a young man, he was educated at the Royal Danish Naval Academy. In 1935, he was married to Princess Ingrid of Sweden and they had three daughters, Margrethe II of Denmark, Margrethe, Princess Benedikte of Denmark, Benedikte and Queen Anne-Marie of Greece, Anne-Marie. During Denmark in World War II, Nazi Germany's occupation of Denmark, Frederick acted as regent on behalf of his father from 1942 until 1943. Rued Langgaard
Rued Langgaard (; born Rud Immanuel Langgaard; 28 July 1893 – 10 July 1952) was a late-Romantic Danish composer and organist. His then-unconventional music was at odds with that of his Danish contemporaries but was recognized 16 years after his death. Life Born in Copenhagen, Rued Langgaard was the only son of composer and Royal Chamber musician Siegfried Langgaard (1852–1914) and Emma Langgaard (née Foss, 1861–1926), both of whom were pianists. At the age of five Rued began taking piano lessons with his mother, and later with his father and a private teacher. His talent emerged quickly, and at seven he was able to play Schumann's '' Davidsbündlertänze'' and Chopin's mazurkas. By then he had begun to compose short pieces for the piano and play the organ. At 10 he began to study the organ under Gustav Helsted, organist at the Jesuskirken in Valby, and the violin under Chr. Petersen, formerly of the Royal Orchestra. Gundorph Albertus
Gundorph Albertus (16 June 1887 - 26 December 1969) was a Danish silversmith who worked for Georg Jensen A/S. He created the Cactus and Mitra flatware patterns. Early life and education Albertus completed a chaser's apprenticeship in 1905 and then as a silversmith in Munich in 1909. After working a few years in Munich and Paris, he then enrolled at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts' sculpture school until 1915. He spent a year at the École des arts décoratifs in Paris. Leo Mathisen
Leo "The Lion" Mathisen (10 October 1906 – 16 December 1969) was a Danish jazz pianist, composer, arranger, singer and bandleader. He was a leading figure of the thriving Danish scene during the years around World War II—a period which has been labelled the Golden Age of Danish Jazz—and he is considered to be one of the most significant and original jazz musicians of his day. Mathisen's main source of inspiration was Fats Waller, both his piano play and his singing, but the later years of his career saw some bebop influence. His most famous tracks are "Take It Easy" and "To Be or Not to Be". His nickname is a reference to his first name as well as MGM's mascot Leo the Lion. He is also remembered for his characteristic appearance with his flat, centrally parted hair, his thin moustache and, most notably, his fondness of large cigars. Victor Gram
Victor Gram (30 January 1910 – 12 February 1969) was a Danish politician who was a member of the Social Democrats. He was the minister of defence between 1962 and 1968 and a long-term member of the Parliament (1943–1969). Biography Gram was born in Højby on 30 January 1910. At age 16 he became a member of the Social Democratic Youth of Denmark which he headed between 1942 and 1946. Then he joined the Social Democrats and served at the Parliament from 3 April 1943 to 12 February 1969. On 15 November 1962 Gram was appointed minister of defense. He remained in the post until 2 February 1968. The cabinets were headed by Prime Minister Jens Otto Krag. Gram died in Copenhagen on 12 February 1969 and buried in Fredericia Fredericia () is a town located in Fredericia Municipality in the southeastern part of the Jutland peninsula in Denmark.
