1969 Swedish Speedway Season
The 1969 Swedish speedway season was the 1969 season of motorcycle speedway in Sweden. Individual Individual Championship The 1969 Swedish Individual Speedway Championship final was held on 18 September in Gothenburg. Ove Fundin won the Swedish Championship for the eighth time. Junior Championship Karl Erik Claesson won the Junior Championship. Team Team Championship Getingarna won division 1 and were declared the winners of the Swedish Speedway Team Championship for the seventh time (and sixth time in the last seven years). The Getingarna team included Anders Michanek, Bengt Jansson and Leif Enecrona . Örnarna won the second division, while Bysarna and Eldarna won the third division east and west respectively. Indianerna (the Indians) are a Swedish motorcycle speedway team based in Kumla, Sweden. The club's official name is Kumla MSK and it was founded in 1936 which makes the club one of the oldest motorsport clubs in Sweden. Indianerna was one of the seven teams that competed in Sweden's first speedway league in 1948. The team has won the Swedish Speedway Team Championship two times, in 1990 and 1991. Lejonen
Lejonen (the Lions) is a motorcycle speedway club from Gislaved in Sweden, who compete in the Elitserien. Their home track is at the OnePartnerGroup Arena which is Sweden's oldest track still in use. The club are two times champions of Sweden. History In December 1929 Gislaved Motorclub was formed and by 1931 the track was built. The track was originally wide and long but in 1936 it was widened to and during the 1980s the inside edge of the track was moved and the length was reduced to . In 1963 the Lejonen team began racing in Division Three and became the champions in 1965. Lejonen finished at the top of Division Two (the Allsvenskan) in 2007 and defeated Valsarna in the play-off final to gain promotion to the Elitserien for 2008. During the winter of 2007-08 the track underwent major changes to accommodate Elitserien racing and the club announced the signing of Nicki Pedersen, the 2007 World Champion. Vargarna
Vargarna are a Swedish motorcycle speedway team based in Norrköping, Sweden. The team race at the Norrköpings Motorstadion. History The name Vargarna literally translates into English as "The Wolves". The team won the Swedish Speedway Team Championship five times 1949, 1951, 1953, 1954, 1960 and 1961. In recent years the club has moved up and down leagues from the Elitserien to the second tier of Swedish speedway, the Allsvenskan (National League). During the 2022 Swedish Speedway season the club reached the Allsvenskan play off final. Perhaps the club's most notable rider in recent years was the former world champion Nicki Pedersen, who signed for the team in 2010. Elit Vetlanda Speedway
Vetlanda Speedway were a motorcycle speedway team based in Vetlanda, Sweden. Earlier known as Njudungarna and VMS Elit, the club was formed in 1946, and arranged their first meeting three years later. In 2003 when the club was promoted to the top division of Swedish speedway league, the Elitserien Elitserien (literally, "the Elite League") is the name of several Swedish nationwide sport leagues. Bysarna
Bysarna were a Swedish motorcycle speedway team based at the Gamla Speedway Track, in Galgberget, north of Visby on the island of Gotland in Sweden. They were four times league champions of Sweden. Season summary History 1921 to 1951 The beginning of speedway in Visby can be traced back to November 1921 when the Gotland Motor Association was formed. Eight years later in 1929 the Gotland Motorcycle Club were riding dirt track races. A meeting was held at Gutavallen on 23 October and several other meetings took place at various venues before the war. After the war a suitable piece of land was acquired in Galgberget and the track was completed in 1951. 1967 to 1977 Although a track existed in Visby there was no team until 1967, when a team called Bysarna entered Division 3 east, during the 1967 Swedish speedway season. Leif Enecrona
Leif Enecrona (5 March 1940 – 11 April 2003) is a former international motorcycle speedway rider who reached the finals of the Speedway World Championship three times. He earned 16 caps for the Sweden national speedway team. Career He rode for Gamarna from 1961 to 1966, winning the Allsvenskan Division 2 in 1965 and then for Getingarna from 1967 to 1978 winning the Allsvenskan four times. Enecrona had a brief spell in the United Kingdom, riding for the Long Eaton Archers during the 1966 British League season, where he averaged 7.68. He won the Swedish Championship in 1968. The Swedish Speedway Team Championship is the team championship of speedway in Sweden. Season by season History The Championship was introduced in 1950. In 1982 the Championship was renamed with a new league called the Elitserien being introduced. previously the highest league had been known as the Allsvenskan but since 1982 it has been the second tier of Swedish speedway. Between 1986 and 1999 the team that finished top of the league were declared champions because there was no play off.
