Alain Calmat
Alain Calmat, (born 31 August 1940) is a French former competitive figure skater, surgeon, and politician. He is the 1964 Olympic silver medalist, the 1965 World champion, the 1962–1964 European champion, and the 1958 & 1962–1965 French national champion. Career Calmat attended the Cours Hattemer, a private school. He started skating at the age of nine. He won the silver medal at the French Figure Skating Championships in 1954 and would go on to win twelve medals at nationals before retiring: seven silver and five gold. He placed 9th at the 1956 Winter Olympics and won the bronze medal at the 1958 European Championships. Günter Zöller (born 21 May 1948) is a German figure skating coach and former competitor for East Germany. He is the 1970 World bronze medalist, the 1970 European bronze medalist, a five-time Blue Swords champion, and a five-time East German national champion. Personal life Günter Zöller was born 21 May 1948 in Chemnitz. Career Zöller began figure skating as a child. Coached by Jutta Müller, he represented the club SC Karl-Marx-Stadt and East Germany. Zöller debuted at the European Championships in 1963 and finished 19th. In 1965, he won his first East German national title and was sent to the 1965 European Championships, where he placed 12th. He then competed at his first World Championships, placing 18th. In 1967, after winning his second national title, Zöller advanced to seventh at Europeans and 11th at Worlds. Giordano Abbondati
Giordano Giulio Abbondati (29 May 1948 – 21 April 2005) was an Italian figure skater and seven-time national champion in 1961–66 and 1968. He competed in several European and World Championships in the 1960s, in addition to the 1964 and 1968 Winter Olympic Games, in both of which he placed 14th. Giordano retired from figure skating in 1968 to pursue a career in medicine but continued to be involved in figure skating as an international competition judge for many years. He married fellow judge Hely Rainesalo-Abbondati of Finland in 1974 and moved to Helsinki, Finland. Sergei Alexandrovich Chetverukhin (russian: Серге́й Александрович Четверухин; born 12 January 1946) is a former Soviet figure skater. He is the 1972 Olympic silver medalist, a three-time World medalist, and a four-time European medalist. Personal life Chetverukhin was born on 12 January 1946 in Moscow, Soviet Union. He moved to Canada in 1990 at the invitation of Canadian figure skater Donald Jackson. He holds Russian and Canadian citizenship. He is married and has a daughter. Career Chetverukhin trained at VSS Trud in Moscow. He was coached by Tatyana Tolmacheva and later by Stanislav Zhuk. Philippe Pélissier (born 30 November 1947) is a French figure skating coach and former competitor. Competing in men's singles, he won six medals at the French Figure Skating Championships. He competed at the 1964 Winter Olympics, placing 23rd, and at the 1968 Winter Olympics, placing 13th. Ondrej Nepela
Ondrej Nepela (22 January 1951 – 2 February 1989) was a Slovak figure skater who represented Czechoslovakia. He was the 1972 Olympic champion, a three-time World champion (1971–73), and a five-time European champion (1969–73). Later in his career, he performed professionally and became a coach. Early life Nepela was born on 22 January 1951 in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia. His mother, a housewife and seamstress, and father, a chauffeur, were from central Slovakia. Career Nepela became interested in skating after watching the 1958 European Championships on television — Karol Divín won the men's title for Czechoslovakia. In February 1958, his mother brought the seven-year-old to a Bratislava ice rink. After two weeks, she approached Hilda Múdra to complain that her son was being ignored by the instructors and Múdra agreed to teach him. She described him as a diligent and punctual student. Peter Krick (born 31 January 1944) is a German former competitive figure skater who represented West Germany. He is a three-time (1966–68) national champion and finished in the top ten at seven ISU Championships – four Europeans and three Worlds.
