1965 CONCACAF Championship
The 1965 CONCACAF Championship, the second edition of the CONCACAF Championship, was held in Guatemala from 28 March to 11 April. Qualifying Tournament Caribbean zone Jamaica, Trinidad, Dominican Republic withdrew from qualifying due to a schedule clash with qualification for the 1966 FIFA World Cup. Hosts of the final tournament, Guatemala refused to grant the Cubans visas to visit the country. Cuba complained to Helmut Käser, FIFA's General Secretary requesting for FIFA not to recognise CONCACAF. Käser stated that FIFA could not do so and referred the issue of Guatemalan visas for the Cubans to CONCACAF. As they were not able to enter the competition, Cuba withdrew. Haiti and Netherlands Antilles automatically qualified for the final round. Central American zone Panama withdrew prior to the qualifying tournament beginning. 1963 CONCACAF Championship
The 1963 CONCACAF Championship was the first edition of the CONCACAF Championship, the football championship of North America, Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF). The tournament was held between 23 March to 7 April. Nine teams participated in the inaugural event. The tournament was hosted by El Salvador in the cities of San Salvador and Santa Ana. The nine teams were broken up into one group of five and one group of four; the top two teams of each group would advance to a final group stage, playing in round-robin format to determine the winner. The tournament was won by Costa Rica, who defeated the hosts El Salvador 1–4 in the deciding match of the four-team final group. Jorge Roldán
Jorge Roldán Popol (16 November 1940 – 8 June 2023), known popularly as ''El Grillo'' ("cricket"), was a Guatemalan football coach and player. A midfielder, Roldán played almost his entire career for the local team Aurora F.C., being perhaps the most emblematic individual ever to represent the club. He also became a member and later captain of the Guatemala national team, being part of the squad that won the 1967 CONCACAF Championship, and participating in the 1968 Olympic Games and in two World Cup qualifying campaigns. Roldán managed clubs in Guatemala for over three decades, and coached the national team at all levels. Club career Roldán debuted in the Guatemalan '' Liga Mayor'' with Aurora in 1958, at the age of 18, under coach Rubén Amorín.
