1964 European Nations' Cup
The 1964 European Nations' Cup was the second edition of the UEFA European Championship. The final tournament was held in Spain. It was won by the hosts 2–1 over the defending champions, the Soviet Union. The tournament was a knockout competition; 29 teams entered (Greece withdrew after being drawn against Albania). The Soviet Union, Austria and Luxembourg received byes to the round of 16. The teams played home-and-away matches until the semi-finals; the final four teams would move on to the final tournament, whose host was selected after the teams became known. Luxembourg proved to be the giant-killers of the qualifying rounds; they beat the Netherlands 3–2 on aggregate (1–1 and 2–1), and then drew with Denmark 3–3 and 2–2, before losing the replay 1–0. Ferenc Bene
Ferenc Bene (17 December 1944 – 27 February 2006) was a Hungarian Association football, football player of Újpest FC, Újpesti Dózsa, who was a member of the team that won the gold medal at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. A Forward (association football)#Striker, striker, he was the top scorer of the tournament (12 goals in 5 matches). Bene was born in Balatonújlak. He played his first international match against Yugoslavia national football team, Yugoslavia on 14 October 1962, and his last against Czechoslovakia national football team, Czechoslovakia on 12 September 1979. He obtained 76 caps and scored 36 goals. He was bronze medallist at the 1964 European Nations' Cup, European Championship of 1964, and a quarter-finalist at the 1966 FIFA World Cup, World Cup of 1966 (at the latter event he was the top scorer of the Hungarian national team). Amancio Amaro
Amancio Amaro Varela, (born 16 October 1939), commonly known simply as Amancio, is a Spanish former football player. Nicknamed ''El Brujo'' (The Magician) he played outside right for Deportivo de La Coruña, Real Madrid, and the Spain national team. Playing career Early career Amancio began his career aged 15 at local side Victoria CF, in the district of Falperra–Santa Lucía. In the 1958–59 season, he joined Deportivo de La Coruña, which at that time was in the Spanish second division. Concetto Lo Bello
Concetto Lo Bello (13 May 1924 – 9 September 1991) was an Italian association football international referee. He holds the record for refereeing the most games in Serie A (328). His career spanned the years 1944 to 1974, refereeing his first international match in 1958. He officiated at 34 international matches, including the West Germany–USSR semi-final in 1966. He had been provisionally chosen to referee the 1970 FIFA World Cup Final, but the Italian team reached the final, so he could not officiate. Lo Bello also refereed the European Cup finals of 1968 and 1970, as well as the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup 2nd leg final in 1966 and the UEFA Europa League 2nd leg final in 1974. Arthur Holland (referee)
Arthur Holland (26 November 1916 – March 1987) was an English football referee. Career Born in Barnsley, Holland became a Football League linesman in 1947 and graduated to the Referees List in 1951, taking charge of the FA Amateur Cup Final in 1959. Later, in the same year he was appointed to the FIFA List and later refereed in the 1963 European Cup Final between Benfica and Milan. He ended his domestic refereeing career with the 1964 FA Cup Final between West Ham United and Preston North End. A few weeks later his final match was the European Nations Cup Final between Spain and the USSR in Madrid. Arthur Blavier
Antoine "Arthur" Blavier (28 January 1914 – 15 September 1991) was a Belgian Association football, football referee. Refereeing career Blavier spent his career refereeing in the Belgian First Division A, the top flight of Belgian football. In 1960, he was appointed as a FIFA International Referees List, FIFA referee. In 1962, Blavier was selected as a referee for the 1962 FIFA World Cup, where he officiated a group stage match between England national football team, England and Bulgaria national football team, Bulgaria.
