1963 Swedish Speedway Season
The 1963 Swedish speedway season was the 1963 season of motorcycle speedway in Sweden. Individual Swedish Individual Speedway Championship, Individual Championship The 1963 Swedish Individual Speedway Championship final was held on 4 October in Stockholm. Björn Knutson won the Swedish Championship for the second time. Swedish Junior Speedway Championship, Swedish Junior Championship Winner - Bengt Ederlöv Team Swedish Speedway Team Championship, Team Championship Getingarna won division 1 and were declared the winners of the Swedish Speedway Team Championship for the second time. The Getingarna team contained Göte Nordin and Bengt Jansson. With 18 teams declaring their intention to compete for the 1963 season it was decided to form four divisions. Örnarna won the second division, while Filbyterna and Dackarna, Dackarna B won the third division north and south respectively. See also * Speedway in Sweden References

1962 Swedish Speedway Season
The 1962 Swedish speedway season was the 15th season of motorcycle speedway in Sweden. Individual Swedish Individual Speedway Championship, Individual Championship The 1962 Swedish Individual Speedway Championship final was held on 21 September in Gothenburg. Ove Fundin won the Swedish Championship for the fourth time. Swedish Junior Speedway Championship, Swedish Junior Championship Winner - Stan Karlsson Team Swedish Speedway Team Championship, Team Championship Dackarna won division 1 and were declared the winners of the Swedish Speedway Team Championship for the fourth time. The Dackarna team included Rune Sörmander, Per-Tage Svensson and Åke Andersson (speedway rider), Åke Andersson. The league system changed from two regional second divisions to a second and third division. Getingarna won the second division and Gamarna won the third division. Vargarna
Vargarna are a Swedish motorcycle speedway team based in Norrköping, Sweden. The team race at the Norrköpings Motorstadion. History The name Vargarna literally translates into English as "The Wolves". The team won the Swedish Speedway Team Championship five times 1949, 1951, 1953, 1954, 1960 and 1961. In recent years the club has moved up and down leagues from the Elitserien to the second tier of Swedish speedway, the Allsvenskan (National League). During the 2022 Swedish Speedway season the club reached the Allsvenskan play off final. Perhaps the club's most notable rider in recent years was the former world champion Nicki Pedersen, who signed for the team in 2010. Dackarna
Dackarna is a speedway club from MÃ¥lilla in Sweden who compete in the Swedish Elitserien. Their home track is at the Skrotfrag Arena which has been used as the venue for the Grand Prix of Scandinavia since 2005. History The team was founded in May 1935 as MÃ¥lilla Motorklubb and in 1949 renamed itself Dackarna (in honour of Nils Dacke) and the club began league racing. Dackarna raced in the highest level of league racing in Sweden between 1951 and 1965, winning the league championship in 1957, 1958, 1959, and 1962, and finished as runners-up in 1956 and 1964. Dackarna switched between the first and second league for the next 30 years until 1997 when the team received the backing of a major new sponsor (Svelux) and were renamed Team Svelux. Svelux were taken over by Luxo in 2002 and the team name was changed to Luxo Stars. In 2006 the sponsorship deal expired and the team name reverted to Dackarna. The Swedish Speedway Team Championship is the team championship of speedway in Sweden. Season by season History The Championship was introduced in 1950. In 1982 the Championship was renamed with a new league called the Elitserien being introduced. previously the highest league had been known as the Allsvenskan but since 1982 it has been the second tier of Swedish speedway. Between 1986 and 1999 the team that finished top of the league were declared champions because there was no play off. Rune Sörmander
Rune Bertil Leopold Sörmander (1929-2020) was an international speedway rider from Sweden. Speedway career Sörmander was one of speedway's leading riders during the 1950s and 1960s, he was a three times champion of Sweden, winning the Swedish Championship in 1955, 1958 and 1959. He reached the final of the Speedway World Championship on seven occasions (1953, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962) and the final of the Individual Speedway Long Track World Championship three times (1959, 1961, 1962). He also helped Sweden win the World Team Cup in 1960, 1962, 1963 and 1964 He rode in the top tier of British Speedway, riding for various clubs.
