Eric Heenan (29 April 1900 – 26 June 1998) was an Australian politician. 1962 Western Australian State Election
Elections were held in the state of Western Australia on 31 March 1962 to elect all 50 members to the Legislative Assembly. The Liberal-Country coalition government, led by Premier Sir David Brand, won a second term in office against the Labor Party, led by Opposition Leader Albert Hawke. The election resulted in a confirmation of the status quo, with the only apparent seat changes since the 1959 election being due to the changes of affiliation of the two Independent Liberal members. Edward Oldfield, representing Mount Lawley, had joined the Labor Party during the previous term, whilst Bill Grayden, representing South Perth, had joined the Liberal Party. Both were re-elected. Two seats changed between the Country and LCL Parties. Evan Davies (Western Australian Politician)
Evan Morris Davies (22 June 1892 – 10 April 1963) was an Australian trade unionist and politician who was a Labor Party member of the Legislative Council of Western Australia from 1947 until his death, representing West Province. Davies was born in Melbourne to Ann Elmira (née Davis) and John Morris Davies. He moved to Western Australia as a small child, and after leaving school began working for Western Australian Government Railways. Davies enlisted in the Australian Army in August 1917, and served in France with the 16th Battalion. He was discharged in September 1919, and subsequently returned to the railways. Davies became president of the Fremantle branch of the Locomotive Drivers, Firemen and Cleaners' Union, and in 1928 was elected to the Fremantle City Council, where he would serve for the rest of his life (including as deputy mayor for a period). George Jeffery (politician)
George Edward Jeffery (5 September 1920 – 24 July 1989) was an Australian politician who served as a Labor Party member of the Legislative Council of Western Australia from 1956 to 1962, representing Suburban Province. Jeffery was born in Tumby Bay, South Australia, to Mary Dora (née Fyfe) and Charles Victor Jeffery. His parents moved to Perth, Western Australia, when he was six, and he attended Perth Boys High School and Perth Technical School. Jeffery initially entered the police force, but later trained as a chemical plumber. He joined the Australian Army in 1941, and during the war served as a sapper with the Royal Australian Engineers. Jeffery returned to plumbing after leaving the military, and served on the executive of the Plumbers' Union. He was elected to parliament at the 1956 Legislative Council election, but served only a single six-year term before being defeated by Herbert Robinson at the 1962 election. Metropolitan-Suburban Province
The Metropolitan-Suburban Province was a three-member electoral province of the Western Australian Legislative Council, located in the metropolitan region of Perth. It was created by the ''Constitution Acts Amendment Act 1899'', and became effective on 29 August 1900 following a special election to fill all three seats. Historically taking in many coastal and riverside areas in the western suburbs of Perth, it was considered safe for the Nationalist Party for most of its existence. At the 1950 elections, it was renamed Suburban Province, losing Claremont and Subiaco and moving inland. In 1963–1964, electoral changes to the Legislative Council, which abolished the 10 three-member seats and created 15 two-member seats in their place, resulted in the seat's abolishment, with its area being divided between North-East Metropolitan Province and South-East Metropolitan Province. Robert Henry Claude Stubbs (2 April 1905 – 25 May 1998) was an Australian politician who was a Labor Party member of the Legislative Council of Western Australia from 1962 to 1980, representing South-East Province. He served as a minister in the government of John Tonkin. Stubbs was born in Northam, Western Australia, to Mary Jane (née Marshall) and Stokes Stubbs. He attended the Kalgoorlie School of Mines and Perth Technical College, and then worked as a miner in Collie. Stubbs moved to Kalgoorlie in 1932, and then to Norseman in 1937, where he eventually became an underground supervisor. He later worked as a health inspector for the Shire of Dundas.
