Igor Novikov (pentathlete)
Igor Novikov (russian: И́горь Алекса́ндрович Но́виков, 19 October 1929 – 30 August 2007) was a Soviet modern pentathlete and Olympic Champion. He competed at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, where he won a gold medal in the team competition (together with Aleksandr Tarasov and Ivan Deryugin. He won a silver medal at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, and he competed at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, where he won a gold medal in the team competition (together with Albert Mokeyev and Viktor Mineyev), and a silver medal in the individual competition. After retiring from competitions, Novikov worked as a modern pentathlon coach and administrator. Ivan Konstantinovich Deriuhin ( uk, Іван Костянтинович Дерюгін, russian: Ива́н Константи́нович Дерю́гин; 25 November 1928 – 10 January 1996) was a Soviet modern pentathlete and Olympic Champion. András Balczó
András Balczó (born 16 August 1938) is a retired Hungarian modern pentathlete. He competed at the 1960, 1968 and 1972 Olympics in the individual and team events and won three gold and two silver medal; he missed only one medal, finishing fourth individually in 1960. Balczó was elected Hungarian Sportsman of the Year 1966, 1969 and 1972, while the pentathlon team was several times chosen as the Hungarian Team of the Year. He was awarded the title of Merited Master of Sport of the USSR in 1972, along with eight other athletes from outside USSR. Robert Beck (pentathlete)
Robert Lee Beck (December 30, 1936 – April 2, 2020) was an American modern pentathlete and fencer who won three gold medals in these disciplines at the Pan American Games in 1963–1971. He also won bronze medals in the individual and team modern pentathlon events at the 1960 Summer Olympics. He was less successful at the 1968 Games, placing 22nd individually and fourth with the American team. Beck graduated from the University of Virginia and Harvard Medical School. Beck was a practising dentist in San Antonio, Texas, during his professional career. He was hospitalized in February 2020, due to a head injury from a fall in front of his home. He died on April 2, 2020, at age 83, after contracting COVID-19. Allan Jackson (December 4, 1915 – April 26, 1976) was an American radio broadcaster. He was the head anchor at CBS Radio News in New York City. Jackson, born in Hot Springs, Arkansas and an alumnus of the University of Illinois, began his 33-year career during the Second World War, reading the 6:00 PM national evening news (then the network's main news program) and anchoring coverage of many of the major news headlines of the day. He anchored CBS News's coverage of the D-Day invasion on June 6, 1944, of the joining of US and Soviet forces in April 1945, and of V-E Day in May of that year, then the Berlin Airlift in 1948.
