1961 FA Charity Shield
The 1961 FA Charity Shield was the 39th FA Charity Shield. The match was contested on 12 August 1961 between double winners Tottenham Hotspur and a Football Association (F.A.) representative eleven. Tottenham won the match 3–2. In the 1960–61 season, Tottenham had become the first club since Aston Villa in 1897 to complete the Double, that is, to win the FA Cup and Division One in the same season. The Charity Shield, which was first contested in 1908, is conventionally held between the previous season's league champions and the FA Cup winners. FA Community Shield
The Football Association Community Shield (formerly the Charity Shield) is English football's annual match contested at Wembley Stadium between the champions of the previous Premier League season and the holders of the FA Cup. If the Premier League champions also won the FA Cup, then the league runners-up provide the opposition. The fixture is recognised as a competitive super cup by The Football Association and UEFA. Organised by the FA, proceeds from the game are distributed to community initiatives and charities around the country. Revenue from the gate receipts and match programme sales is distributed to the 124 clubs who competed in the FA Cup from the first round onwards, for onward distribution to charities and projects of their choice, while the remainder is distributed to the FA's national charity partners. Les Allen
Leslie William Allen (born 4 September 1937) is an English former football player and manager who played as a inside forward. Playing career Allen started his playing career at amateur club Briggs Sports where he helped them to reach the semi-finals of the Amateur Cup in 1954. In the same year Allen signed for Chelsea on his 17th birthday in September 1954 but never established his place in the Chelsea first-team. He scored 12 League goals for Chelsea in 44 appearances. Ron Henry
Ronald Patrick Henry (17 August 1934 – 27 December 2014) was a footballer who played for Tottenham Hotspur, and won one cap for England. His grandson, Ronnie, is also a professional footballer. Club career Henry joined Tottenham in 1952 from Redbourn, and made his debut in 1955 as a centre half, but was soon converted to left back. He was a regular in Spurs' defence for many years, and his honours include being a member of The Double winning side of 1961, the 1962 FA Cup, and the European Cup Winners Cup in 1963. Peter Baker (footballer Born 1931)
Peter Baker (10 December 1931 – 27 January 2016) was an English footballer. Educated at Southgate County School in North London, he played right-back for Tottenham Hotspur and was part of the double-winning side of 1960-61 and won the FA Cup with Spurs in 1962. He played 299 league games for Tottenham scoring three goals. Playing career Baker joined Tottenham Hotspur from non-League club Enfield in October 1952. After a slow start at Spurs he gained a place in the first team and quickly improved and went on to play a key role in the Spurs Double-winning side of 1960–61. He stayed with them until the end of the 1964-65 season, keeping a regular place in the team from the 1960–61 season until the end of the 1963-64 season, when he was replaced by Cyril Knowles. Bill Brown (footballer, Born 1931)
William Dallas Fyfe Brown (8 October 1931 – 30 November 2004) was a Scottish football goalkeeper. Brown played for Dundee between 1949 and 1959, and for Tottenham Hotspur between 1959 and 1966. He was part of the Spurs team that won the Double of Football League and FA Cup in 1961 - the first club to achieve the feat in the 20th century. He was also capped 28 times for the Scotland national team. Career Dundee Brown played as a youth for Carnoustie Panmure. He started his senior career with Dundee as a teenager and made over 200 appearances in the Scottish Football League. Tottenham Hotspur Brown was signed in 1959 for £16,500 to Tottenham Hotspur in June 1959. 1986 FA Charity Shield
The 1986 FA Charity Shield (also known as the General Motors – FA Charity Shield for sponsorship reasons) was the 64th Charity Shield, a football match contested by the holders of the Football League First Division and FA Cup. This edition featured a Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton at Wembley Stadium. Liverpool achieved a First Division and FA Cup double in 1985–86 so they faced Everton who finished as runners-up in the League. The match was played on 16 August 1986. Adrian Heath opened the scoring for Everton in the 80th minute when he ran in on goal to shoot right footed to the left of the goalkeeper from six yards. Ian Rush equalised in the 88th minute when he side footed to the net from six yards after a low cross from the right. The match finished 1–1. 1970–71 Football League
The 1970–71 season was the 72nd completed season of The Football League. Arsenal won the league championship at the home of their North London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, with Ray Kennedy scoring the winner. This would soon be followed by their FA Cup final tie with Liverpool. They narrowly overcame Leeds to win the league, with a 12-point gap separating Leeds United from third-placed Tottenham. 1971 FA Cup Final
In the finale to the 1970–71 FA Cup season, the 1971 FA Cup Final was contested by Arsenal and Liverpool at Wembley on 8 May 1971. Arsenal won 2–1 after extra time, with all three goals coming in the added half-hour. Steve Heighway opened the scoring for Liverpool with a low drive past Wilson on his near post. However, Arsenal equalised with a scrambled goal from George Graham which is often credited to substitute Eddie Kelly although tv footage exists which shows Graham got the final touch. Charlie George then scored a winner late in extra time, when his long range effort went past Ray Clemence.
